When Cluess told him he wants him to prep for a year he basically told him we don’t really want you, at least not yet.

When Cluess told him he wants him to prep for a year he basically told him we don’t really want you, at least not yet. Really strange situation. This kid is a legit 3-star recruit. Had offers/interest from HM programs. While not plan A for Western Kentucky, they had him on campus and had strong interest. Going on the current recruiting class and roster just hard to understand why not take him for the '19 class? Head scratcher for sure

Think Cluess knew BG Jr. needed a year to allow his body and mind to mature. I've seen many phenoms rushed to the point where early on-court failures ruined their chances for pro careers. TC is the best developmental coach I've seen over the years. He doesn't allow the win-now syndrome to overpower the long-term view. That's why he's been to the post season every year he has coached D1 and so many of his players are in pro leagues.

Surprising. One would think all the positives heaped on TC would've solidified commitments.
The world is upside down.

That way he is part of the program, can be introduced to college academics while not having the full demand of academics/atheltics right away, developing under TC's watchful eye and is not being recruited while at prep.

Bruce Guy once again shows Iona commit on his Twitter account!! Hope he's back in the fold I asked the writer on Twitter that covered Guy Jr and his recruitment. Let's see if I get a response tomorrow. Another good sign, Guy Jr. "Liked" a tweet by coach Eaton of a picture of the upgraded HAC. Who knows maybe he becomes part of the '19 class?

Well there you go..not good news at all The writer just posted on Twitter that he spoke to Guy Jr yesterday and was told he never decommitted from Iona, and is still on board. Kind of strange considering the tweet saying otherwise, after he spoke to the young man. I guess time will tell. Lol

Wonder if the whole St. John’s controversy had an impact at the time.

Josh Ogundele - 6'10" PF/C out of Worcester Academy via London, England. Big and strong. Has a nice touch in around the basket and can step outside and hit the three His game is developing rapidly and if he works on his conditioning, he could be a very good player. He has only been playing hoops since he was 14. Previously his sport of choice was rugby but he concentrated on hoops after growing 5" in one summer. He is a tough defender and is can pass well. He is solidly built and has a huge wingspan. Reported to be a very hard worker. Offers from Bradley. Towson, Siena, Northeastern, Cleveland State, South Florida, Bryan. is getting looks from BC, UCONN, UMASS and Providence.

Ogundele looks like he would be a very good addition to the roster. Not sure what type of immediate impact he would have, but seems like he could grow into a big time MAAC player.
