Just announced that Canisius will be representing the MAAC in next season's Advocare invitational in Florida. Other teams in the field: UAB, Memphis, Charleston, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma State and Villanova. Obviously a loaded field but also some winnable games, with national TV coverage over different ESPN channels. Don't understand why Iona doesn't have any interest in this tournament. Iona recruits Florida JUCO'S, just wish they would play in this tournament. Great opportunity to upset BCS programs, instead of playing in one of those tournaments where you travel to a LM/MM program, 2 HM programs and possibly one home game. Advocare also allows you to play a 4th game before the tournament against one of the other teams, like Siena did years ago playing Purdue
My understanding is that the schools that appear in these higher-profile tournaments actually have to pay a fee to be included. And Cluess is against it. And I disagree with him. Getting a crack at big schools at a neutral site greatly increases your chances of actually beating them (see our earlier discussion), not to mention gets the fans juiced. Worried about the money? Throw on another guarantee game to help offset costs.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.

I agree there is one thing I do t understand why can't we play in Brooklyn and msg in a double header with another Maac school to play up teams LIU could use a partner as well for their home games if we played 2 home games vs mid majors 3 games in tournament 2 $$$ games 2 games vs BCs schools in barc/ msg 3 more road games I think program would benefit with more coverage than the way we schedule now

I believe it comes down to $. School is limited to 2 guarantee games per year. (Syracuse & RI)

I believe the OOC scheduling, for IONA in the near future will get more regional(bus). And that's probably a good thing. The Bracketbuster's actually got us 2 good games a year, the featured game, AND the return game from the year before. Too bad its over. Others have said it, "It's hard to get good (or any) school to come to New Rochelle."
I'm told by a very good source that the MAAC has a scheduling requirement, whereby all schools must schedule SEVEN home (OOC) games over a two year period. And looking at this year's sked, it means we'll be playing five games st the HAC, next season. Probably, Holy Cross, Albany and three others.
I wish this was true, we are at 4 home games over a two year period, not 7.
sid, coming up with a schedule is very difficult, but we're getting no help from the League. Reducing League games from 20 to 18, and changing League requirements makes a tough job, very tough.

59, the league agrees with u, next year we go back to 20 MAAC games
Ideally it would have, but some schools were already locked into contracts for those two slots where it would have been a significant financial penalty has they backed out.
