These things almost always come down to $$ and power. To do what you're suggesting -- increase TC and JG salary to a point where they are incentivized to stay -- will be cost prohibitive. Do you really think Iona can afford to pony up somewhere around $1 million per year in order to retain Cluess and Grasso together? Stop living in dreamland. That is not happening. Going to be impossible to convince a young assistant coach to pass up more money and a HC opportunity to stay at Iona. And frankly, none of us should want that anyway. Grasso has paid his dues. He deserves his shot to run his own program and a big step up in $$. We all should be rooting for him to get the QU job. I still don't think it's a done deal like some suggest, but he certainly deserves it. Grasso has earned a shot. While it would be nice for Iona to retain Grasso and Cluess, at the end of the day its more important to keep Cluess.

Amodio and the administration feel they can wind up in the Bid East. 800K salary sure opens up the list of potential candidates.

Quinnipiac has a coaching search firm led by a Japanese guy. They will take who that guy picks

That's a very big bet by Quinny if they wind up paying that much. I think they really do have delusions of grandeur, since they have really done squat in the MAAC. However, if they shake up the MAAC with a true big name hire, this could be interesting.
My guess is that they will wind up significantly overpaying for whoever they hire.

Goodman has since tweeted a clarification, that that salary is only for certain candidates or something to that effect. Dumb.

Really good article. They both deserve more opportunity if they want it. Enjoy the game in person. Go Gaels!
