NextUpRecruits @nextuprecruits 2021 Iona Prep (NY)/@nyjayhawks F Jonathan Kuminga @jonathankuming6 has received an offer from Iona.
Jonathan Kuminga - 6'7" SF/PF out of Iona Prep and the Jayhawks AAU. Dominated the recent Hopp Group Summer JamFest. He has a slick handle for his size that he uses effectively to get to the hoop. Loves to tun the baseline and dunking. Kid has a nice pulp jumper and can shoot the three very well. Blocks shots well, is athletic, has good timing and a good Hoops IQ. Very, very complete player for his age. We are his first offer.
Here is a scouting report from the Next Up Recruits Elite Camp in early July: "Despite being one of the youngest prospects in attendance Saturday, rising freshman Jonathan Kuminga (pictured above) was the best long-term prospect in the field. A recent import from Africa, Kuminga has all the physical tools you look for in a prospect. The 6-foot-7 wing brings versatility to both ends of the floor with his length, size, and athleticism. He can easily play the 1-4 at any given time. Kuminga makes things look easy on the offensive end, especially for his age. The bouncy forward excels around the rim, but he has a methodical approach to his game. He allows the game to come to him and doesn’t look to force things. There’s still a long way to go for this young pup, but expect Kuminga to be a nationally known prospect sooner rather than later."
EYBL Atlanta Weekend’s 5 To Know: 15u/ 16u Division last May: "Kuminga is a new name that we watched for Team United 15u. He already holds impressive size for his age at 6’5 and played center for this organization. He displayed that he can already be a shot blocker down in the paint and impressive post moves that effective and strong. He comes from Mountain Mission, a program that is known to develop bigs and already has the blood lines as he is the younger brother of Joel Ntambwe."
He is number 208 in this highlight video:

Offering 13-year-olds? That somehow doesn't seem good for the kid. Maybe I'm wrong?

Renaissance Hoops @nyrhoops 3h3 hours ago Congrats to @shanedezonie on his offer from @icgaels (Iona). The 6'4 guard was a on the @nyrhoops #1 ranked 2021 team
Shane Dezonie - 6'4" CG out of Bethlehem, PA and plays for Sacred Heart (PA) and the New York Rens. Coast2coastpreps ranks him as the 13th best player in his class nationwide. The other nationwide ranking systems have him ranked between 12th and 19th. Looks like we are his first offer.
A Hoop Group scouting report from last November: "Scouting Report: One of the top players in the class of 2021, Shane is a dominant player at his level and has the potential to become one of the top high school players in the nation. Shane possesses the ability to get by defenders in the half court and in transition and can finish with authority around the rim. His physical stature and competitive nature make him a matchup nightmare for any opposing coach."
A report from The Basketball Spotlight Clash For The Cup from last February: "Dezonie is a big combo guard standing at about 6’4 with a solid frame that allows him to absorb contact when he is finishing at the basket. Right now he is at his best finishing in transition with either hand. Shane has a nice stroke for the free throw line and he can knock down the occasional three ball. He makes good decisions and takes what the defense gives him. Defensively he has the ability to guard one through four at this level. He tallied a game high 17 points in their championship win."
A report from the Super Skillcase Profile last November: "One of the main reasons I like Dezonie is because no matter the accolades he receives including high ranking he still leaves everything on the floor. He got it done as usual on both ends of the floor but also put in the dirty including hitting the glass against bigger forwards. He also took it upon himself to guard the some of the biggest opponents in the gym. This kid played like a warrior at this event."

Video shows him playing against guys half a foot shorter. But it also shows great athleticism and shooting touch. No doubt he'll go to a major program. Our hope is that he ends up in New Ro on the rebound.

Anyone know the last time we got a recruit from Cardinal Hayes? I don't know of any that I can remember over the last 25 to 30 years. We always seemed to recruit from Rice, St. Rays and All-Hallows.

Jaylen Murray - 5'10" PG out of Cardinal Hayes and PSA Cardinals AAU. Has a good handle, can run the point and can drop the 3. He gets into the paint and uses the floater effectively... also likes to penetrate and use the pull-up jumper. Originally went to Wings Academy but transferred to Hayes and reclassified from the 2020 class. Offers from Quinny and Manhattan.
Scouting Reports:
"...look out because Murray is coming. The silky smooth combo guard let it be known at the Super Skillcase. He works great during the pick and roll while preferring to pop the pull up jumper. I like how he has developed his driving and finish game. Murray confidence handling the rock has reached another level and he’s looking to move up our rankings quickly. If he plays like this during the season it could be a problem for the opposition. - Basketball Spotlight, Super Skillcase November 18, 2015
"As far as his ability goes, Murray is an ample scorer himself, with deep range and a good stroke. He handles the ball well, and is easily another guard that you can trust with the rock in his hands. If they can get him to buy in on the defensive end, he should see a lot of minutes and gain a lot of experience and growth this spring and summer. Murray certainly has the potential and ability to compete with other top guards in the nation." - Madehoops.com - PSA Cardinals 2020 Team Preview 04/05/2017

Bryce McGowens - 6' CG out of Wren High School in South Carolina. A slick guard who can penetrate, play in transition, hit the three or draw defenders to the perimeter so he can make a pass inside. Kid plays older than his years and has a high court IQ. Holds an offer from Mercer.
His brother is Trey McGowens, a South Carolina Region I-AAAA Player of the Year and First Team All State Selection last season... now playing at Hargrave Military Academy and holds offers from Clemson, NC State, Carolette, FGCU, Ole Miss, Kansas State, St Johns, Tennessee, Seton Hall and TCU to name a few. He is reported to be a 4.0 student.
Scouting reports:
"The younger brother of Hargrave (VA) guard Trey McGowens, Bryce is already 6-foot and is one of the best shooters in the area. He has a good handle and his most impressive asset of his game is his basketball IQ. He is starting to get it when it comes to coming off screens and consistently knocking down mid-range to three-point line shots. He is athletic and can get by defenders with his ball handling." - Prep Hoops 09/4/17
"The last name McGowen may ring a bell to many in South Carolina. Bryce McGowen is the younger brother of 2018 standout Trey McGowen. Like Trey, Bryce is a talented wing player that can effectively play every perimeter position. The lanky scoring guard has a multi-faceted offensive skillset that allows him to shred defenses and will more than likely pave the way for him to see varsity minutes as an incoming freshman." - AOTRHoopsReport tlanta Invitational Future Stars – June 8, 2017
"One thing’s for sure, Bryce McGowan can absolutely fill it up. In one of, (if not the best) shooting performances of the weekend, the Team SC guard hit 8 threes on his way to 34 points. Moving without the ball and shooting off the dribble, McGowan found several ways to get his quick release off." - HOOP SEEN 2017 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champion May 31, 2017
"Right off the bat, McGowens’ long arms and legs jumped out at me. At 6-foot, the lanky built freshman definitely looks to have a lot of inches left in him to grow. Basketball wise, he displayed an impressive offensive repertoire and an IQ that was off the charts. He understands the game and may be in line to play right away at Wrens High. I know it may seem a bit premature, but McGowens (in my opinion) already possesses a low to mid major level skill set. In fact, SoCon member, Mercer University has already offered the young prospect from South Carolina." - Hype South 2021 FRESHMAN U CAMP: FUTURE FIFTEEN August 31, 2017
