Since Iona used to bring in bands to play back in the day, I was wondering if you guys have any fond memories of catching any great bands on campus (or around the area) back in the day.. Fordham and Hunter were pretty big on the concert scene as well back then.
Here are some bands and dates to jog your memories.. I am sure there are more but I can't seem to find a record of it.
7/24/66 - The Beach Boys & Chain Reaction (featuring Steven Tyler of Aerosmith) 7/8/67 - Dionne Warwick and Every Mother's Son 7/22/67 - The Lovin' Spoonful Fall of 1967 - The Rascals 3/4/68 - Beach Boys with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi 10/9/71 -Carly Simon & Livingston Taylor

Pretty sure the Shmenge Brothers were there when I was there in the 70's (before they hit the bigtime).

Can't recall others.

My memories of these great concerts had little to do with the great performers, but rather of the man who made it all possible. Brother Darby Ruane. Had him at Iona Prep, and maybe (not sure) at the College.

Spring of 1984 saw Tears for Fears at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie. A crowd of approx. 200 people. Three weeks later their song and video "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" was constantly being played on MTV. Pretty cool!

Southside Johnny show was 1983 in Mulchahy. It was a blast. The best band most people never heard of. Still going strong.

Don't know if this concert was mentioned, but soon after Mulcahy was opened, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makehm performed. I was there. Sat in the stands, which were described by one of the singers as, "The cheap seats".
