jb must mean either Dr. Nyre, if he means Iona overall or Matt Glovaski if he's just talking athletics.

It's not the Iona Women's team, but it is Women's BB, and Iona related. The great granddaughter of OT's friend Noffi Vacarro, Avery LaBarbara, made her college debut last night for Holy Cross against Assumption in an exhibition game. She was second high scorer for the Lady Crusaders with 12 points. Was hoping that the Harrison HS star would be playing for Iona. She's a talent.

Some things change, some don't. A year ago in New Ro, Iona Women lost by 25 to Hofstra. Last night, on the road, they lost by 25 to Hofstra.

Watched the stream last night. The Iona bench looked sparse and did not see returnees from last year's roster, DiGioia or Motz, at the game. Ashley Martin was there but not dressed in uniform.
Hope this is not a sign of the times...otherwise it will be a very long season(which it might be anyway)

Not much talent on the Women's team. Only seven players, and the seventh played one minute. Two on crutches and three in sweats. But you have to love the effort. They lost to SJU by 26, but, as you would expect, they wore down in the fourth quarter, scoring three points. SJU didn't impress me, and I believe they were picked sixth in the BE. I'll give SJU credit for pressing the whole game, which contributed to the fourth quarter letdown.

Really a shame what has happened to the women’s program. Fingers crossed they can bounce back!

They will. Probably won't see it this year but I feel they are righting the ship. SJU very young - with some talent also.
