The Lady Gaels played their best game of the season, last night, losing to Stoney Brook, 53-51. Stoney Brook has now won nine in a row, but Iona took the game down to the wire, and had two shots at the basket, which missed, as time expired. Game gives hope that Iona might win a couple of League games, as they continue to play with effort. Sophomore, Monica Barefield came off the bench and led the team in scoring with 15 points.

Just checked on the Lady Gaels. Ouch. Team is 1-14 and 0-4 in league play, with all but two losses coming by double digits or more.
59...what is your take on the team and what are some of the solutions needed to get things turned around?
iona05, the team seems to be regressing. I was at Thursday's game (Kids Day) and watched yesterday's game on TV. Freshman PG, Shyan Mwai who has won the MAAC ROW twice hasn't played since December 21st and I have no idea what her problem is. Yesterday, they had 30 TO's, so that is a BIG problem. As bad as they've played they've been in their MAAC games, an indication of how weak many of the MAAC teams are. Of course the MAAC does have Quinny and Marist, two VG teams. Every year it seems that the team has had a number of early signings, but not this year. Gabrielle Joseph, 5'11 freshman forward seems to have a future, and Tori Lesko does play hard, records points, rebounds and assists, and might lead the League in taking charges. IMO, the girl from Spain, who is now the starting PG has been a disappointment but she is only a freshman and might improve with time, but it probably won't be this year. At least most of the team is healthy. Bottom line, the team needs a talent infusion.
1970, I follow the team, but have zero inside info about the team, unfortunately. If I did, I would want to know what caused the coach to go from "on the way up" to "on the way down". We seemed to have gone downhill once our great PG, Marina Lizerazu graduated.

30 turnovers!
Are they turning it over almost every other time down the court?
Any chance this program follows in the footsteps of the Iona baseball program?

not inside info, how many players were here last year?
