As far as I can see there is only two reasons for Bruce Guy to spend an additional year in Prep School: 1. He needs to get his grades up in order to get into a college. 2. He wants to improve his 'game' in order to attract bigger schools. So, we (the staff) know which one it probably is.

Last year Bruce Guy Jr played on a high school team with Memphis freshman and 4-star recruit, Tyler Harris, who had offers from Auburn, Kansas, Iowa State, LSU, UMASS, Xavier, Purdue, Nebraska, Tenn, SMU, Colorado State, Baylor, TCU and Mississippi.
Guy played in the Adidas Gauntlet and excelled in front of every coach in the country. In AAU he was playing with players like PF Trendon Watford (5-Star top 25 player), Center Armando Bacot (5-star Top 20 player),PF Patrick Kelly (Penn State Commit), PF Isaiah Todd (5 Star Class of 2020 top 10 Player) and C Jaden Frazier (3-Star recruit). In addition, he was on numerous prestigious hoop camp all-star teams while playing in front of BCS coaches. IMHO he has had huge exposure as he was playing against top competition in AAU and was also playing in front of BCS coaches who were there to watch the quality bigs he was playing with. I don't think a year in prep will exceed the exposure he has already received. This kid has a very complete game, all he needs to do is improve his three-point shooting... what better place to do that than with Cluess in New Rochelle.

He can either fix his 3pt shot and then a BCS coach will take him or he can be a fall back guy for one of these coaches and that is what always happens to us

Doubt it has anything to grades. He told the writer class of '19 recruit. Maybe something changed in 2 days? I have been around recruiting, and helped kids get scholarships for years. Have never seen a kid commit this early to a MM level program while also holding legit offers from higher level programs. No reason to prep a year after his Sr season being in the position he is in. I 81 posted he is a '20 recruit. Expecting a article to be posted soon on Twitter that will hopefully give us a answer.

If he doesn't... then I would agree that he most likely has no intention of coming to New Rochelle. But maybe this time we get lucky. You have to be in it to win it.

Article by the writer I messaged with posted on Twitter. Guy Jr mentioned he could have waited and commit to a higher level program. He fell in love with the staff and liked the idea they were honest with him and his family with no guarantee of PT. Most important, he mentions hopefully playing himself into the 2019 rotation. '19 class looking good

Anything can happen as we are all aware, but for now him giving a verbal means he intends to come ,there are many reasons for a prep year.i certainly don't have that answer but I have hopes he preps and comes in 202o,FWIW that's the plan.

Early signing period is 11/14 - 11/21.
Giving a verbal a few weeks before the signing period and not signing would be a major red flag and the staff should not hold that ship.
Check out how Sampson George is doing at Pitt.
