Ohio (2-1) lost 73-46 at South Florida.
Manhattan (1-2) up by as many as 9 in the first half, then down by as many as 13 in the 2nd half, managed to eke out a 55-53 win over Coastal Carolina on a neutral court. Tyler Reynolds led the Jaspers with 12 points, while Ebube Ebube almost had a double-double (like his name!), scoring 9 points with 12 rebounds. Manhattan was 10-21 on 3-point shots attempted (47.6%) but only 13-28 on free throw attempts (46.4%). The Jaspers were whistled for 28 fouls in the game; but fortunately for them, Coastal Carolina was also poor from the free throw line (19-34, about 56%).

Siena has a VG freshman PG, Pickett, and their coach has them playing pretty well. Also, another freshman, Seymour, who looks to be a good three point shooter. What they can't do is rebound, but they looked like a team moving in the right direction. They have to bring in a couple of rebounders in order to move into, or at least compete for the top half of the MAAC. They play Holy Cross, Sunday morning at 11 or 11:30.
A big win for Niagara, playing on the road in Laramie, Wyoming, as part of some tourney. Prochet making a claim that he will lead the MAAC in rebounding and Robb had another three blocked shots. Townes has put up a couple of double digit scoring games.

So based on what we’ve seen so far Niagara looks good, Siena some talented frosh and a little ahead of where they were expected, Manhattan and Monmouth very rough starts. Any other observations? Keeping an eye on Dunne at Marist. How has Rider done?

Bill, Rider hasn't played since their opening night loss at Central Florida. UCF is pretty good and have a fairly talented 7'6 center, who the tv guy doing their game the other day said he is one of the top 40 tallest people in the world. So, while Rider has only played one game, I'm sure they will have a good year.
To know how MAAC teams are doing, all you have to do is to read the MAAC board. When we fell behind Albany by 15, there was a cry that Iona/Cluess can't survive w/o Grasso and Griffin. When we rallied to win, it was because Albany was terrible. Now that Canisius has lost to Albany, I'll have to read the Board to see if Canisius has fallen behind Siena. The team that has surprised me (in a bad way) is Quinnipiac. But that might be because they are missing a couple of guards, including Richie Kelly (Sp?). Like many say it's still early.

one of New Mexico St guards went 6-6 behind the Arc. You need someone to step up if you are going to win a tough road game.
