I know it's a fluid situation as places open and close all the time. What would be your vote for the best pizza. Let's use the staple of a traditional slice of thin crust cheese pie.
What say you?

My 2¢'s worth. Ranked in Order of preference:
Johnny’s 30 West Lincoln Ave. Mt. Vernon, 914-668-1957 Gino's 439 S. Broadway, Yonkers, 914-423-5088 Gianfranco's 88 Virginia Rd, White Plains 914- 682-5655 (very good regular pies and excellent specialty pizzas) Patsy’s 2 Pelham Rd New Rochelle (914) 365-2255
When visiting my dead relatives at the Old St Ray's in the Schuylerville section of the Bronx, I always grab a slice at Louie & Ernie's.

Not Nanuet Restaurant on the way? LOL... Nanuet has changed hands. The original thin crust "ah-beets" they served can still be found at the Nanuet Hotel which was run by their cousins back in the day. The sad part is too many of us remember when pizza joints were referred to as Pizza Parlors. If you are near New City try a new joint (Bar and restaurant) called Norcina's ... great food and amazing pizzas. The crust is amazing. Think of it as a sports bar in a shopping center with world-class food. The wings are huge... biggest I have ever seen. But try the Pepperoni and sausage pie... world class. Lots of cute divorcees as well.

Met a guy in Sarasota last week whose family owned Palermo's on Middletown Rd. in Nanuet.--Never went there.

When I was a kid we used to either go to King pizza in Elmsford or Nicky's pizza on Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains. Both were good but that was 30-40 yrs ago.
My dad (god rest his soul) used to tell me when they were kids back in the 40's and early 50's the hot spot was La Mandas in Greenburgh. A traditional thin slice cheese. All the young people would meet there on Friday night. Now, apparently the place has gone down hill. Dirty inside with numerous signs saying "we love your kids, but please lease them at home". wtf.

I've never leased a kid before. How does that work?

IONA86, when I was a kid (1940's) and had to go to a Pizza place to pick up a pie, I was told to ask for an "ah-beets". Never found out what "ah-beets" meant, though someone told me it was probably short (no pun intended) for hot pizza.

Never found out what "ah-beets" meant, though someone told me it was probably short (no pun intended) for hot pizza. An interesting explanation for the Italian dialect from Naples and their playful play on words, I guess similar to English Cockney use of rhyming and adjusting words, has impacted how their descendants speak today. www.atlasobscura.com/articles/how-capicola-became-gabagool-the-italian-new-jersey-accent-explainedI know "New Haven" style pizza tries to claim the term Ah-Beets", but New York pizza predates CT Pizza by over 20 years and my friends Grandparents (Mostly from Naples and a few from Bari who all settled in the Bronx) all referred to Pizza as Ah-Beets and most of them never hung out in New Haven. So I assume it is a Naples play on words... A Pizza to ah- Piz to Ah Beets. That would be my guess. Also as a kid we never went to a pizzeria, we went to a pizza parlor.
