Congrats to Rickey McGill on a terrific career and being a great kid. Regardless of how this season ends he will go down as one of the all-time great overachievers, warriors and winners.

Congratulations to Ricky McGill on his time as a Gael. Another example of player development by Coach Cluess. Wonderful to watch the progression over time. He has been fortunate to play in front of family and friends while representing Spring Valley at the Division 1 Level. Hopefully other local talent have paid attention to his success at Iona and realize they do not need to bolt the local area. Best wishes on the remainder of the season and the MAAC Tournament.

Really want Ricky to have a good day and game that he can take with him,he has been a good player, good student, leader, and winner in his 4 years and has been no problem at all, which in these days can be a rarity, getting another championship would be icing on the cake,it might be matched but never topped!!!!

As they have said on game broadcasts both home and away:"Ricky is a winner!" He has worked hard to be a winner. I am fortunate to have been able to enjoy the fruits of his hard work ovr the past four years. Thanks, Ricky. Hope you will continue to enjoy basketball after graduation. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy Gael ball, hopefully we'll into the post season.

Rickey originally committed to Manhattan, then de-committed when Massielo got into the mess looking to take the South Florida job. Then, Zach Braziller went from claiming that McGill was the future stud to lead Manhattan to the promised land, to eluding that Rickey would never making it to Iona due to academic issues. Then, a few Manhattan fans put out rumors that McGill tried to get back in with them but Masiello turned him down as he percieved Rickey to be disloyal (not kidding with that... the coach that said he wouldn't leave Manhattan and then tried to run to Florida).
Karma really is a bitch, as Braziller was wrong (as usual) and Manhattan has not beaten Iona since Rickey took the court for us.

I will never, ever forget that Siena championship game. Carried the team to a MAAC championship with a broken hand. Warrior.

I remember Rickey’s first game in Valpo. He looked like he was going to struggle to see the floor and someone who would be a prime transfer candidate. Instead of taking the easy way out he hung in there and fought hard to earn a spot in the rotation by the end of the season.
Four years later he has become an all league player. He’s earned every bit of it, and for all the stories you hear about players who never reach their potential Rickey is a great example of the rare player who has probably achieved beyond their potential.
He also has a very classy and supportive family. We were lucky to have him represent Iona for the past four years.

If I remember correctly, McGill's breakout game as a freshman was at QPAC. Played great and made shots. Played a key role with his defense the rest of the season.

A solid contributor for 4 years. Hopefully he can make it to the dance four years in a row and then EJ can do the same after next season.
