One name not specially mentioned is Hudson. Thought he did a good job denying Pickett in the minutes he played last time out. Good to hear from you EP!Hudson is part of "committee" I mentioned.

Both of our games this season against Siena were played in the fifties. We need the seventies or else it will be a nail biter. I watched last night's Siena-Rider game, and Siena was definitely the better team. On defense I like how they took Allen (VG 3pt shooter) out of the game, by assigning either Camper or Smithen (I assume) to guard him, and stay with him, even when the ball goes inside. We usually/often drop off our man in order to double down low, and the ball is kicked out for an open three. All three of Siena's big guys can shoot the three, with Seymour having deep range. Refs are important since it's our Super Six against their Super Six. Two refs I'll be comfortable with are Tyburski and Carthensen (the tall bald guy). Hope they don't let Pickett continuously clear out with his off hand. I have no problem with a game in the 60's so long as Iona reverts back to it's prior form of having lock down defense for the final portion of the game.

We need everyone to contribute.
Also, I think it was Joebird who mentioned that EJ never gets a call when he drives to the hoop. I agree - it looks like he gets hammered more times than not and hardly ever gets a call. I'm hoping that he starts getting some +1 calls.
Go Gaels!!!

I would lean toward Gist as the primary defender on Pickett and as EP pointed out perhaps a sprinkling of Hudson, as he did a nice job for about a 4 min stretch last outing.
One player who mildly concerns me is Smithen. He's that lunch pail Tre Bowman type player who has a nose for the ball and can do a number of things. I thought Still would have filled that role for Iona.
I do agree as others have said that Agee should have a big game down low. I think he's a step quicker than Fisher.
Curious to send if TC leans toward man or zone as the main defense.

From what I saw last night, the only time I've seen them this year, I think Siena is very well coached, the PG plays like an upperclassman. They have good outside threats. They actually play defense. They are a good team. We need to play better defense than Friday, obviously. Guys like Risto and Maxwell don't need to contribute offensively, imo. Good minutes playing perimeter D and getting rebounds will contribute quite a bit. Relying on Ricky, EJ, Agee, Ben, and Gist to provide the offense. If we can force the tempo a bit early on without tiring ourselves out, we may be able to get them on some tired legs late, given that they played last night. Just get'er done. If I'm Siena I try to bait Agee into foul trouble. He needs to play D, but he needs to be sound fundamentally.

I would start out in man so Siena does not get off to a fast start from the three point line. Seymour won the game for them last night ( 6-8 from 3 point land). Also hope we take higher percentage shots and not settle for threes.

This will be the big moment Siena has been waiting for about 8-9 years and a chance to awaken from Limbo land...The crowd will be enthusiastic and the Refs. not hopefully overswayed...The latest odds has IONA a 2 1/2 point favorite...We must avoid at all cost a slow start...Our bench must be used judiciously and it must respond accodingly...
I will be 94 years of age in a few days...I can't wait much longer for that elusive NCAA victory...Sometimes surprises come when least expected...!!!!!OT

We need to speed up the game this evening. I watched Siena a number of times and late in the second half Fisher is dragging himself up and down the court. If we can establish the flow of the game we can wear them down in the 2nd half. As long as we can stay close the first half and establish a fast tempo I'll feel good about our chances.

I'm interested to see how Siena defends Iona. We've won a couple of recent games with only three guys scoring in double digits. Will the Saints say that they can beat us with three guys scoring a lot of points, but not with only two guys putting up big numbers. And they double one of our big three. If Agee is the one to get special attention, will he refrain from trying to force things. Should be a good game. We will definitely need Gist to step up on both ends of the court.
