North Dakota State, with Siena transfer Jordan Horn, is up by 14 in the Summit league final. They are 17-15. I don't follow all of the seeding stuff like you guys, but if they win does that possibly knock Iona out of the PIG?
This Gives Iona a chance, but really Iona’s resume is as bad as anyone. All we have going for us is our reputation of always gettin in, our 10 game winning streak and that we played well in the championship for all to see. The ncaa tourney likes to take some leagues that are usually not in the play in if they can, I think this is why we will probably still be in the play in.
I hope we are in the Pig.
I believe Palm had all the teams ranked (seeds 1-16) and he had us as the 3rd play in team. This was a couple days ago.
Yes, we have won 10 in a row and have tourney history but the eye test may keep us in the pig as we really are going to have a 6 man rotation. Only see Maxwell and Hudson getting in for very brief cameos to spell a tired or injury riddled player. They could see a bit more time in a pig game prior to a 1/16.
Gonzaga just helped the WCC conference out, they lost the tourney final to the Gaels of St. Mary. 2 teams going to the Ncaa tourney out of the wcc instead of 1. However, They may have dropped out of the 1 spot to a 2 seed.

NDSU had a weaker kenpom than we do, so it's not impossible they are shifted to the last PIG along with FDU and the SWAC and MEAC champs.
The Southland tourney, which starts tomorrow, is the one to watch. If the 3 seed or lower wins, they will be in the PIG.

Also Jerry Palm has us in the PIG, with NDSU there too and Prairie View out of it despite being 23 spots behind us in kenpom and a few behind us in NET.
Like I said last night, the Southland will be key. But we also should watch the SWAC and MEAC apparently!

Correct. I also think Big West and Big Sky could fall to the PIG if the 3 seed or worse wins those conferences.
BTW, will Don Guy be making an appearance at the NCAA game this year?
Here are the NET rankings of all 15 & 16 seeds as of now. Stars indicate conference tourneys that are still waiting to be finished.
As of now, looks like the final non-PIG 16 will come down to how the committee views us against FDU and Prairie View. If we get some help in the other tourneys below we could be safely on the non-PIG 16 line.
Potential Seed Jumpers: Big West: 5 seed or below would need to win tourney (LBST, CS Northridge, UC Davis, etc.) Big Sky: 3 seed or below would need to win tourney (EWU, Portland, Montana St, etc.) Southland: 3 seed or below would need to win tourney (Lamar, New Orleans, SELA, etc.) SWAC: 2 seed or below would need to win tourney (Texas Southern, Grambling, Jackson St, etc.). We could still be seeded ahead of #1 seed Prairie View, but this would ensure that.
My preference is Kentucky and I can't make up my mind on whether I want the play in. If I could guarantee a win I probably would prefer it. I don't want Gonzaga because they just lost. I don't want Virginia because they will be super focused after last year. It comes down to I think North Carolina is better than Kentucky, so I'll take Kentucky, plus we already beat North Carolina, lets now beat the other power!

I am pulling for Kentucky in Columbus, too. Back-up choice would be Tennessee in South Carolina followed by Gonzaga in Salt Lake.

I have a hunch that we would win our pig game, feeding off our 10 game win streak. This could also provide momentum for the 1/16 match.
IF we are fortunate enough to survive the pig, our best chance is to somehow stay in the 1/16 game and keep it close at half (8 points down or less). I imagine the fan base of the other game (ie. 8/9) would provide extra cheering support, rooting for the underdog. Obviously this theory goes out the window if we are the last game of the night.

Agree with Kentucky as the preference, though for different reasons. Virginia would have been my first choice, because the style of play matchup is the best for us. However, a big reason they lost last year was injuries and they are at 100% this year. That they lost last year in my mind works in our favor. Keep it close and the nerves kick in. Don't think Gonzaga will be on the one line, but St. Mary's did give a nice outline on how to beat them. Plus they are over-rated. Terrible conference and lost to a mediocre St. Mary's team. The cool thing about playing them would be having their last two games of the year losses to the Gaels. Carolina or Duke, no thanks. Kentucky has been erratic at times. My first choice. Having said that.... let's be real.

Thanks for compiling.
I have some paranoia nitpicking, all with the same theme: some teams that you suggest we should root for could pass us (or at least pull even with us) in NET and KenPom if they go on to win their tournaments. I would including rooting against Lamar in the Southland, Texas Southern in the SWAC, and the 4 seed in Big Sky, Weber St (the 3 seed, EWash, has terrible NET and KenPoms, OK to root for them).
