That’s great they read it maybe it will propell them to step it up Yes, because I'm sure they had no plans of trying hard without our motivation.

As a fan wondering any of you as fans have jitters like I do it’s only Wednesday & I got them. Secondly, you think the players have jitters & how does staff erase those jitters? I know Guy is gonna fire back at me for these comments but I just wanna know how players handle pre-game jitters Ah, no, this is a fair question. I think it's the experience of Cluess, McGill and Crawford that take over here, you have to sell them on the fact that it's just another game. Some guys will be more affected than others. My hunch is it won't phase Gist. Perez is the one I'd want to come out confident and not be so quick to defer to the experienced guys. And on the flip side, you have to make sure someone like Agee isn't so hyped up that he has 2 fouls before the opening tip.

Re jitters, I got faaaaar more nervous/stressed as a coach (Pop Warner) than I EVER got as a player, from youth sports through high school. Can't say why. Just never got nervous as a player.

harsh, but did you say it wasn't true? What I said was more correct--we're facing a team of NBA players, and I'm not going to piss on any of our guys if they don't play well Friday. The kid in question is on the team, how about we support him given that I know FOR A FACT that the players read the board. The fact that players read the board is precisely why we don’t need comments like “ if we lose the play-in game it will cement for all time that Iona is a loser program, etc.” Despite it being absolutely absurd, you don’t hang albatrosses around guys necks as they head into battle. I remember saying to my son before a big soccer game, remember if your team loses or you make a mistake you will curse and embarrass our family for all time. Now have some fun!! No, no come to think of it I recall I never did that. Had no interest in putting a thought in the kids head that might sabotage his play. A little common sense here on this board from time to time would be a tonic. And of course anyone thinking a losing team is an embarrassment is bananas. The only way an athlete or program could possibly be considered a “loser” program is if guys didn’t compete. You go compete, try, make mistakes, fail, etc. you are no loser. They only way an athlete can embarrass the school would be to do something like sucker punching a guy during a time out or something like that. I’ve read a gazillion message boards over the years I’ve never seen some of the comments I see on here at times. Nothing close.

Relax. Enjoy. It is a treat and pleasure to be able to root for the Iona Gaels playing in the Big Dance. Look around at the fans of the other MAAC teams who wish they were in our situation rooting for their team in the Tournament. Relish the moment and then send all your Positive energy to the team. You gotta believe in the possible, not dwell in the negative or be hopeless. Dream big! I look forward to enjoying the game. In Cluess we trust. GO GAELS!

And BTW, not having jitters would not necessarily be good either. This is a big deal. If you're not excited and nervous then when will you be? Unlike Guy, I was a wreck before every race I ran and every swim meet I swam. The minute the gun went off I was too busy to be nervous. Maybe Jitters is not good, but nervous excitement is fine.

Think your over doing the significance of these posts even if they read it. These are big boys and don’t think they care that much what a bunch of old men who aren’t anywhere as good as them in basketball think. Just like most of us here you have made some dumb posts as well, which I have ignored just like you should ignore mine, I think there have been far worst posts on this board for you to harp on mine, especially one from 10 days ago.
