I was all for Tim going to St John’s when this thing started. Since then, If anyone came to me and explained this situation as it has transpired and asked for my advice, I’d tell them find another job. I am completely sincere here. If Cluess is going to take another job he deserves the best opportunity to succeed. There are plenty of good ones out there where you will be treated with respect and not subject to so much dysfunction. If Tim doesn’t care and wants a payday then take the job and roll the dice.

Cluess never going to do it but I agree he should turn down job, but then again this isn't me getting an additional million dollars a year. Looks bad for Iona if he ends up taking it. He seems a bit desperate to leave (some will interpret Iona as a bad job).

I believe the main reason Tim is doing this is to set his family up financially. From what I have seem, Tim almost never puts himself first. My only advice if the job should fall to him is to have an iron clad contract to give his his family long term security.

Pros: $$$$, If he turns it around a lot of personal pride, power conference, close to home
Cons: Team in shambles, administration seems to be messed up royally
What would you do?

Sometimes it is for the money... for others, it is to challenge oneself. From a financial standpoint, TC could make more money at SJU in two years as he would in six years at Iona. That is tough to turn down.
As much as SJU might be screwed up, if TC turns it around, gets them the to the NCAA's seven or eight times and has a couple of deep runs in the tournament, he would have a statue built in his honor and people would be asking "Louie who?"... that might be the challenge he is looking for in his life as it is getting close to his final rodeo.

This. I would hate to lose TC, but if he decides to go, it’s his choice. He has done well by Iona and I only want the best for him. What’s going on right now is BS and he shouldn’t be treated this way. If the other guy turns SJU down, I hope TC does also and gets a better position somewhere down the line if he chooses to leave Iona. Go Gaels!!!

Six years at Iona he makes roughly $3.6 million. How much is SJ’s going to pay him per year? $1.2?

Wild couple of days after a quiet weekend. To be honest my opinion has changed since Friday, and the way the entire process is being handled by SJU.
Friday I would have been ok with lowering the buyout with a agreement with a series of games, and hopefully get Grasso back.
Today screw SJU and don't take a dime off the buyout. If they want Cluess make them pay and use some of the buyout money to get Grasso back with a bigger budget to hire the best assistant coach staff Iona can put in place

His buyout numbers is starting to look too low given how desperate St. John's is becoming.....
