It seems like they are switching the direction that the court will face, Adding benches behind the baskets and yet decreasing capacity. I KNOW am in the minority, but I am unimpressed with the drawing. Will withhold judgement until I see the finished product. based on the picture it looks like the cliff and President Street will be behind the Seatback section.

The top center (leftish) part of the picture is entrance to locker room so you’re looking at it backwards. The rendering does not due justice to the size of the new scoreboards we will have.

Thanks Sid, I am eager too see the finished product. Thanks for clearing that up, I assumed those doors were the ones that let out nearest to the parking garage. I got it reversed. PS if you talk to dad, tell him Joe Piazza retired today, your dad would know him.

Just missing the glass enclosed "Gold Club" above the current lobby. Would have been a nice touch looking down at the court.

We get this great configuration for the loss of 12 seats....perfect. I think we see more students at the games sitting behind the hoops going nuts. Face it... if we put in 5000 seats we’re not going to fill the place. This is what we’ve been waiting for and the best we’re going to get , so get behind it. Great things are happening as the Gaels drive for five.

I also hope some historical player murals find their way onto the walls.

They may be underestimating the impact of this overhaul. Ticket demand should be higher , just because of the building now. They could have had the end zone seats be several rows higher and boosted the seating a reasonable amount, perhaps to 3500. It looks like it will be a trimmed down version of Stony Brook’s gym. I am all for it and it saves the school a battle with the Beechmont Association and about $45 Million!

A few thoughts:
*I was at the HOF golf outing, three or four years ago, when the gift from the Arigoni's was announced. At that time the renovations, along with drawings, showed that Phase l would center around a new lobby (two story), luxury suites behind/above the existing stands. Would also have new locker rooms and lounges for both the Men's and Women's teams. The east wall would be pushed out to accommodate the new lounges, lockers and luxury suites. The front of the building, including the new two story lobby, would go out to road, which runs along the HAC. Phase ll would address the wrap around seating for the HAC.
*At that dinner, many in attendance expressed the opinion that the wrap around seating was more important, so this is good news. But let's not overlook the Beechmont Association. In the Presser, there is this sentence: "The approved plans are responsive to COMMUNITY RECOMMENDATIONS and will not change the building's footprint, height or occupancy".
*So this is a great good bye gift from Dr. Nyre. Now it's a challenge for our new President to finish the job.

IC59, my understanding is that those plans you saw a few years back were scrapped for a variety of reasons, including the aforementioned zoning issues. These are new plans, in essence. And, as stated in the presser, the ancillary stuff is coming after the arena stuff is done.
