Source: New Mexico State transfer Mo Thiam has committed to Iona. Per Rothstein 6’9 forward. Shoots the 3. Averaged 4.5 a game but third team national juco the year before. So I see good and bad, Cluess usually brings out the good. Is this just for one year? When eligible? Why just 4 ppg?

Sits one to play one, according to Zags.

Looks like just 1 year of eligibility (2 years CC, 1 year NM State). I can't imagine he will sit out a year just to play 1 year.

Maybe he will graduate and not have to sit a year.

Maybe he will graduate and not have to sit a year. Hopefully that is the plan.

One sit and one play is a really bad tradeoff. I hope that's not what's happening.

Let's trust in Cluess' judgement. I think he's earned that

Sit one, play one isn’t always so bad. If Cluess sees him being a good MAAC forward and system fit, then why not? Most teams aren’t playing 12 or 13 guys anyhow. May as well use a spot on a big man most conference teams wouldn’t land initially. Plus, he’ll be able to practice and work with strength & conditioning. Low risk, high reward.

Mohamed "Mo" Thiam - 6'9" F. Saw limited time this year but averaged 19.7 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists the year before in JUCO. This guy can play and is athletic, very quick for his size, rebounds and can hit the three.
Comes from an athletic family. His father Assane, represented Senegal in hoops at the 1972 Munich Olympics. His brother Abdoulaye participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for Senegal in fencing. His younger brother is Issa Thiam, who is a 6'10" F who was recently released by Rutgers.

The why not is you burn two years of scholarship for one year of play. I question whether that's what's happening. I can't remember Iona having done that in the past.
