Too much silly bickering.
Why can't everyone just be happy this needed improvement is finally getting done?
For me, I'm just happy that stupid (dead ball) cable to the backboard will be gone (I hope).

Because we're spoiled and nothing is ever good enough. God help us if we ever slip back to mediocrity and we actually have to complain about the basketball being played.

Would like to see more. Also, no need to be insulting about the mentally challenged dead ball cable!

I don't recall anyone posting here that "nothing is ever good enough". In fact the opposite is true. There is a significant initiative underway at Iona - reconfiguration of Hynes, which needs to be used as a springboard for athletic department promotion. In addition, stop putting our new AD on a false pedestal. Let's see what he can do, and a good opportunity is not being exploited. Springboards for growth are rare. When they arrive, they need to recognized and cultivated. The guy from Varsity Insider gets it. And in the very rare instance that I agree with OT - "Why all the secracie ......Go Gails!"

Allen Fieldhouse PTSD is showing. :-) Here are the facts and data points you asked for: 1. You’re correct that part (most) of the $6MM was committed prior to Matt G taking over as AD. 2. Matt G was responsible for sealing the deal AND securing additional funding to increase the amount to $6MM. 3. How do you know that the original commitment wouldn’t have been at risk if Matt G wasn’t in place as AD? Perhaps the donor trusted Matt G, perhaps Matt G instilled continuity and confidence that another new AD might not have been able to do. Ask our rivals in Riverdale if they wouldn’t kill to have the outcomes under their AD that our AD has brought us in under a year. Points one and two contradict each other. Point 3 is speculation by you. PERHAPS you and "Facts" have a fluid relationship. I agree with 83 that this is missed opportunity to engage the Iona community. I'll stop with the pissing match SLG, but will say that #3 was a rhetorical question. It was a statement of fact. Appreciate your contributions to the board.

Thanks. Wow, now that I've seen a partially completed construction project I'm going to give more!

Since this is a very slow time for posts on this Board, I'm asking the following question:
Home teams usually shoot better at home than on the road, and as far as I know Iona is one of those teams (just a guess). And probably the main reason for this is that their home court is where they practice and they feel more comfortable than playing on 'foreign' courts. We used to play/practice on a court that ran north/south. Now we will play on a court that runs east/west. But in order to practice on two or three courts (like we do now) we will have to revert to using courts that run north/south. So my question is will that affect our O/S shooting?
P.S. Like I said it's a slow posting time.

It's gonna look bad when Gist pulls up for 3 and his shot hits Vin Parise in the head.

ic59, don’t think the East/West or North/South orientation of court has any bearing on our ability to put the ball in the hoop. Do think the new seating configuration, with stands on all four sides of court will contribute to home court advantage. Raising the rims to 10’2” or lowering to 9’11” would definitely favor us at home 😜. Of course it would hurt us on the road...

It won't be a problem shooting at a basket with people in the background since TC is preparing the team the team accordingly. He is planning on having retirees attend practice this summer and sit behind the basket. Can't wait for the call. Just hope he knows I'm retired.
