The Volleyball schedule is out and our first home game is 9/28. So it seems that the renovations should be completed by then, even though I'm guessing sooner. I plan to have a much longer post about exactly what's been going on with renovations. A lot of infrastructural changes have been made, that are difficult to share in just photos. Over the next couple of weeks we have the floor being put in place, the bleachers arriving and the floor being painted so the photos will be a lot more exciting. A couple things... - 9/28 and 9/29 volleyball games are not going to be played in the Hynes Center... the "soft" opening will volleyball's home opener on 10/16, a Wednesday night, with homecoming Saturday being the true opener with men's basketball intrasquad scrimmage and ribbon cutting in the morning/early afternoon, and a volleyball match in the later afternoon following the rugby game vs. Notre Dame outside.
We're finalizing the venue for those two events. As with hoops, the dates we play for conference games are dictated by the MAAC and set a year in advance, before this project undertaking was viable. As for when teams are able to get into the facility to practice, it should be the first week of October. In the meantime, we have rented a wood floor for the lower Mulcahy Gym in the Hynes Center for volleyball and basketball to practice. - As Guy mentioned, the lighting is vastly improved... Measured by candlepower (cp), the old lighting was measured at 70-80cp. The optimal lighting for basketball TV broadcasts is 100cp. For volleyball, it's between 70-80cp. When measured last week, the new lighting was 180cp. When everything is set, we have the ability to adjust the lights to the optimal settings for broadcasts for both sports.
- As for color, it's going to remain maroon as it has for the last five years since we changed our logo marks.
Thak you SID. Great info. Though it was more fun when uninformed people panicked, I still appreciate it.

I did not get an email on this. I do get emails from Advancement, the last being one about the golf event coming up in the fall. Clearly they're avoiding you. If you use the PM feature here to send me a correct email address for you, I'll make sure you're added to the proper lists.

I’ll send you a PM with my email address.
