Some awful news to report. It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of our friend and colleague Anthony Mastantuoni this past Monday. Known as "Tootie223" out here, he served as Acquisitions Supervisor at Iona's Ryan Library, and worked at Ryan for more than 30 years. I believe he was maybe in his early to mid-50s.
I got to know Tootie/Anthony a bit over the years, and hopefully some of you have as well. Way back when, IonaHoops.com had a contest in which the prize was joining me for "A Day With the Gaels", and Tootie had won this honor. This was about 10 years ago. I had kinda known him before that, but not really. Since then, we'd kept in modest contact over the years, and he had posted as recently as a few days ago. He was a regular at home games and a passionate fan for sure. But while he loved the Gaels, he was more passionate about the NY Rangers, and long maintained a blog Ranger Ramblings as well as other NY Rangers writing outlets.
One thing I did know about him via Facebook was that he had lost his wife in the not-too-distant past--maybe within the past couple years or so, I'm blanking on the time frame. Ironically, just 5 days ago on FB he posted a meme/quote about wishing to see his wife. If there is good news in his passing, it's that he is reunited with her as he'd wished.
I do have arrangement info, but I won't post here. Please let me know if you want the info and I can send to you privately.
RIP, Tootie!
