6'3" JUCO Combo guard. Impressive stats last season. Looks like a very good recruit, who fits Iona's system. Iona beat out St. Bonaventure, who recently offered.

I agree this appears to be a very solid recruit, but this is the 1st recruit for the '20 class. Five more to go.

Kid had very good stats: 16.5ppg...shooting 52% and 42% from three on 140 attempts. 4.3rpg 3.7apg..with a 85/58 A/TO ratio. Also had 46 steals. St. Bonaventure offered the same day as Iona. Tra Arnold is turning out to be a very good recruiter.

Huge signing! Excellent job by the staff. Probably our best recruiting offseason ever. 1 kid? I’m saying the kids we signed this past recruiting season were incredible. Even if Brown is a 2020 recruit, he was signed this offseason. Excellent job by the staff. Even in the days of Grasso we never had a run like this past few months — McNeal, Washington, Thiam, Van Eyck, Brown, etc.

P.S. Having said that, it sure does appear to be a darn good class.

Darreus Brown - 6'3" SG out of Amarillo Texas, Mineral Area College and Clarendon College. 3 Star recruit who played for Tascosa High School, Pro-Vision Academy (Senior Year) , Texas D1 Ambassadors West Texas AAU and NIKE Pro Skills AAU. He made his name playing for Tascosa High School which is a traditional powerhouse and was chosen Globe-News Super Team Boys Player of the Year as a junior. Before his senior year, he transferred to a charter school in Houston (Pro-Vision Academy) that is geared to help kids that were struggling academically in the public school. Transferring probably hurt his recruitment, but helped him academically. Was a high school teammate of SPU's Quinn Taylor. The young man can score, has a very good handle and reportedly his three stretches to NBA range. Out of high school, he had looks from Tulsa, Creighton, and Texas Tech, but I would assume his academics and the fact he transferred to a charter school with a lower hoops profile limited his recruitment. Currently had an offer from the Bonnies. Scouting reports : "6’3 Combo Guard Darreus Brown of Clarendon – The lefty guard made shots off the bounce and created shots for his teammates. Brown averaged 16.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 3.7 apg as a freshman at Mineral Area College last season" - JUCOrecruiting.com -'Standouts From The Dallas Blowout Last Weekend' -10/08/2019 "The lefty CG started slow but showed his ability to knock down shots. Brown is a smooth player that lets the game come to him. He can score off the bounce and is a crafty player when he gets in the paint. He finished the game against Lewis & Clark with 17 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. He went 5/8 from 3. This season, Brown is averaging 16.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.1 apg, and 2.3 spg while shooting 41.3% from 3. The freshman will most likely be coming back as a sophomore and will be heavily sought after combo guard. " - JUCOrecruiting.com -'Standouts From The St Louis Shootout' - 12/06/2018 "Without question, the best college-level prospect I saw in today's doubleheader was Amarillo Tascosa's 2017 Darreus Brown. At 6'2" he has the required length coupled with athleticism to play at the D1 level. He finished with 14 points. The lefty has a nice stroke from deep and isn't hesitant to flick it if you play off him. He's got a high release point and doesn't need a lot of space to get his shot off. I really liked his ability to slash to the hole. Although his role on this team (and at this time as a sophomore) is more of a wing, he also showed both an aptitude to be a combo guard and a willingness to drop dimes when he drew defenders in the paint. Like most young players there are holes in his game. He needs to get stronger, he needs to become a more dedicated defender and he also needs to work on going right with the same confidence as he does to the left. If he does those things, he will have a bright future." -by Max Ivany, D1Nation.com - -'Amarillo High Tournament' -12/29/2014 "Brown (6-2, 2017) chipped in 36 points as the sidekick. Brown scores with quick lefty slashes to the rim as he elevates and finishes high at the rim. He has a smooth jumper with 3-point range and will hit the open man on the break. He is a good ball-handler who can take over games as a creator/scorer".-By Blue Zertuche - 'Texas Hoops on the Road: Dallas Metroplex" - 12/14/2015 www.amarillo.com/article/20160403/SPORTS/304039893
