Just released his 1st '19-'20 rankings. Pretty sure it takes a few games into the season to be more accurate.
MAAC: Rider-157 Iona-183 Manhattan-244 Siena-245 Monmouth-247 QPAC-267 Canisius-276 Fairfield-278 SPU-316 Niagara-327 Marist-338
OOC: Colorado-37 UCONN-71 Princeton-180 Lasalle-218 Ohio-223 Kennesaw-318 Stetson-329
Some thoughts, appears most predict a 2 team race between Iona and Rider. Most think Manhattan might be a bit better than MAAC fans do. The MAAC might be pretty bad again.
If Iona could have avoided the two bad games in Florida and replaced them with a couple local MM programs with decent preseason rankings, even with only 27 games, the schedule would have been ok.

Taking a look at the couple programs Iona was trying to game with, it's too bad it couldn't be worked out.

I think that’s right it takes a few games to become reliable. Don’t see how it could take into account newcomers, for example, unless they have a D-1 track record somewhere else. Also this may reflect no IW.

Pomeroy's preseason rankings are pretty much based on what you are returning from the year before.
The MAAC is rated 28th, but I don't see that this year. I'll predict an end-of-season ranking of 22nd.

BTW Pomeroy is missing the Colorado game, factoring that in he has us going 17-10 overall and 14-6 vs MAAC.

Some quick numbers talk--DEFENSIVE numbers, I mean:
For much of the year, Iona's defensive efficiency per KenPom was up over 300. That's horrific. Iona ended the season at 276. Similarly, Iona was allowing 46% shooting from opponents when they were 7-15. During the winning streak and loss to UNC, opponents shot just 42%.
Never easy to pinpoint why there was such improvement, but the most logical reason is that all those new guys started to figure out the system.
And they're all back, minus one.
Bodes well.

The entire MAAC is being rated very low by Norlander. Guy said the League is #28 going into the season. At least at #199 we're ahead of Fordham at #205.
