I was out Saturday and trying to watch the game on the NBCsports app, so I also watched this on DVR on Sunday, a couple of thoughts
1. Washington is a tremendous rebounding guard and despite only having 3 points he looks like the perfect point guard for this offense. 2. Van Eyck played scared and couldn't hit an open shot if his life depended on it, I'll credit that to opening day jitters 3. Glad to hear McNeil was hurt because he is far too talented to not get any minutes. 4. Ross has a nose for the ball and is a perfect guy to come off the bench. 5. Perez's effort is tremendous but if he's getting that many minutes and not hitting 3's we are in trouble. 6. Funny how already our rotation is too tight and our best players are playing too many minutes. 7. Agee is a beast and I believe will start getting some NBA looks, especially if he can consistently drain an outside shot. 8. Amazing a Cluess team has never won the first road OOC game. As good as Cluess coaches late in the year, his early season teams are just not ready enough. This year we have to give him a break on this though. 9. I just hope Cluess is OK, This is far more important than any basketball game.

Good stat to remember for next season.
In the TC era we are 3-7 in opening games.
In these games we have never won a road or neutral game (0-7).
In these games we have never lost a home game (3-0).
Maybe we should schedule our opener at home next year. :-)

Pretty much agree on all Joe. Except I was not glad to hear Mcneal was hurt.

I just watched the video of the second half of the game, and I came away with the feeling that the refs cost us the game. I base that opinion on the "T" call against Asante. That FT ended up making it 64-64 at the end of regulation. And unless the refs had a different angle on the play, I couldn't see how they called it flopping.

Speaking of that.. what was the call they made in Lasalle big guy when Agee dunked toward the end.. thought that was a flop too, but they didnt get the T.

Guy, I don't get your point. Do you think that the refs got that call correct? And I've read enough of the postings of Siena fans to know that not all of them blame the refs for their losses. I should have added that we lost the game in the first half. But I just thought that the refs made a terrible call against Asante. And speaking of Siena fans, when was the last time you liked one of my posts?

I agree with 59 that it was a nonsense call. Gist fell back due to contact or to avoid contact. This flopping call will be an issue until the middle of the season. The refs have been instructed to make that call and they will understandably call it too often until it gets figured out. We've seen it in other sports. I'm not sure one call cost Iona the game, but I'm not sure it didn't either.

They also called a technical on Gist in OT and then changed it to a double technical after reviewing the film. I thought they were equally bad on both sides.

Ristanovic and Van Eck were 0-7 off the bench Perez 1-7 and 0-3 from the charity stripe. Iona was 8-40 behind the arc REf's were terrible, to both sides. Called some ridiculous fouls early, then later in the game allowed scrums and wrestling matches and didnt whistle. Iona didnt score in OT Not impressed with Jelly REf's were terrible, to both sides. I think you get a warning, then get a T the second time. Like a flop in soccer, next time you get booked. That's what I think I heard on the broadcast.
