Wishing the Coach a speedy recovery from a Fairfield Alum. Glad to hear it is not life-threatening!

Also thought What King Rice did after the game on Sunday was classy. Stopped the post game on-court interview to offer his best wishes to Cluess. Basically called him the GOAT of the MAAC.

Mentioned earlier or in another thread, Rice was very concerned about TC when we spoke in Orlando and said he was the toughest opponent to coach against--"always brought something new."

So glad you brought this up gregcrow. I was reluctant as I didn’t want to hear the sarcastic responses of some of the King Rice haters on this board. For anyone who did not see or hear his comments on Coach Cluess, I regret that you missed it. He (Rice) preempted all talk of the game with a wonderful tribute to our coach and was extremely emotional in doing so...

I too was moved by his good wishes to TC. He might move up to my second favorite MAAC coach despite my prior feelings.

Almost hard to believe how far we have fallen. Get well, Tim.

Both statistically and to the Naked eye, Iona is one of the worst teams in the country right now (bottom 75).
Gaels look lost, confused and don't know what to do on a play by play basis. I think one of the problems isn't just Cluess not being there, but Arnold trying to coach like Cluess. He just isn't comfortable playing like this. He probably would be better off if he scrapped the Cluess system and instead coached as if he was running his old Juco team. Both him and the players seem caught in between, and therefore are playing like a confused, poorly coached team.

There just doesn't appear to be any pattern with minutes, and too easy for certain guys minutes to get cut from game to game. Mo Thiam had his best career game against SPU, playing 36 minutes, but only 16 minutes against Monmouth. Same with Perez. Was benched after one bad turnover after only 7 first half minutes, when he was being active on the court. Will be interesting to see if the starting 5 stays the same for the Rider game. Isaiah Ross has played well off the bench the last 2 games shooting 9-19 from three (playing 27&36 minutes).

I just don't know what the hell Arnold is doing with players and how he's allocating minutes. It's a huge problem and I understand he's new to head coaching, but there has to be consistency with minutes and player roles. Here, we have none.

He’s got no clue himself as how to coach. He thinks finding minutes for everyone is gonna get team better & make everyone happy. Some logic. Come up with a different strategy man. We lose by at least 15 at the zoo to a very very good Rider team out for blood to prove they belong atop the MAAC. Stevie Jordan has a 25+ point game . We got no answer for him. Prediction Final Score: Rider 79 Iona 57

I’m so disgusted with our non conference scheduling this year!!! Could’ve potentially prepared us with those extra few games. Secondly, you play Kennesaw St, & Stetson that type of competition does nothing to prepare us. Lousy, lousy, lousy. Cupcakes like that do Nothing. And you wonder why we have one of the worst RPI’s in Division I
