First off, a trip back in time, when His Airness tried to dunk over Big Jeff. Um, no, Mike. (Note: quality of video stinks, but it won't take long to figure out who's who.) And now back to the present. Big Jeff's UDC team had some improvement last year, so good for him. And the mess of preseason tournaments desperate to find teams to fill their fields has resulted in UDC landing a game with Duquesne in one of these events. (Side note: be thankful Iona's finding itself in the far more organized events in past and upcoming years!) www.bloggingthebracket.com/2011/9/29/2458919/2k-sports-classic-field-st-johns-arizona-mississippi-state-texas-a-m

Looks like a welcome to the league young man type greeting. Weren't his and Mahorn's nickname McNasty and McFilfthy?

If he had tried that shit (Dunking after a whistle) against George McGinnis, Old George would have knocked him on his ass and then stepped on his ankle to teach him a lesson.
Nice to see Jeff teach the young man a lesson. Besides... you can tell it was early in his rookie year because the league stopped calling "walks" on him shortly after. I do not know what is more amazing.... the knock down or the fact they called him for traveling!!!!!

Ruland's UDC Firebirds are 6-1, with the lone loss coming to Duquesne. Sounds like he's got things turned around there.
His team does make some area appearances, if anyone is so inclined to go see his team play. In fact, I see his team will be playing at the U of Bridgeport next month, so that's one I'll be trying to get to!

I always thought he should be a D-II coach. :-) What's the line on the Washington Adventist game tomorrow night?

I knew that would draw you out of hiding, GM! Here's hoping you have a good holiday season.

Not the "Duquesne" from Pittsburgh.

The boxscore is on ESPN.com espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=313222177So, Jeff's sort-of-quality-D1-loss remains intact. :-)

It appears he's turned things around down at UDC, their record up to this point is 11-1.

I'm going to go see his team play on the 13th, they play at U of BPort so that's an easy one for me to get to.

Yea, the East Coast Conference has a lot of schools up here, Mercy Dobbs Ferry, STAC in Bleauvelt, Queens College, and CW Post. UDC appears to be the Loyola of ECC.
