IONA86, I'm also looking forward to this season, but to say this will be the best team since Grimes/Burtt is a BIG STRETCH. Remember the team in Tim Welsh's last year? McDonald, Mitchell, Kirksay, Hameed, and Miller was a great team and IMO better than our current team. But that's just my opinion.

I think the Tariq Kirksay era team was deeper... I think this team has more potential. Glover is going to blow you guys away (if he keeps his head on straight), his caliber of play is not often seen in the MAAC. I think that Pelcher really will need to step up and be a force off the boards and play solid D for this team to be a great one. We really never know until we see how the unit works together but they do look promising.
I would feel more comfortable if they landed one more solid player to give us some depth. It's a shame Darius Leonard went to Kent State.... I would accept "Air Jamaica" if we have another opening.

IONA86, you can talk about potential, but I can only compare to teams I've seen. We can talk after the season is over.

We really never know until we see how the unit works together but they do look promising. I agree... the proof will be in the pudding. At the very least they should be very competitive and hopefully that will help recruiting over the next few years.

Don't know how to post the links, but if you want a good look at Glover in action....Search Eastern Utah Jr.College baketball..Go to their basketball site and work your way to videos of seasoning ending last dozen or so games...They are very clear......
Some notes......Eastern Utah is a very good team. They draw nice crowds. Glover is almost unstopable when he gets the ball inside. His twisting turning body move is big big time. Has quick hands, and will steal the cross court pass. His dunks are crowd pleasers. He will if left alone shoot the three..He will cause havoc in the depleted MAAC...Stats show that he can use work on his foul shooting. (55%). He has long arms and plays big, and strong for his 6-6 size........There are one or two E. Utah payers that could play in the MAAC immediately.
Aside....Will walk down to the gym about 4:30 pm...Might see you there IC59....
Go Gaels!!!!!!

I'm not very computer literate or else I would attach the link, but on the Hofstra board under Coach Cassara's Recruits at Post #312 is a link to the New York Post article on the Glover commitment.

From a Hofstra Alumni to the current Iona students/alumni...Congratulations on the Glover pickup. He's a beast and will do wonders on the court. I must admit, I'm pretty jealous. Now all I ask is you stay away from 'Air Jamaica' and let us have a shot at him. Once again, congratulations and we'll see you on the hardwood!

Go to Five Boro Sports for an article on this weekend's Bash at the Beach games. Seems like Steve Burtt, Jr. and Mike Glover teamed up in a winning performance. Steve had something like 27 and Mike 24, including about seven alley oop dunks. Sounded like a very entertaining game. Maybe someone, who is more computer literate than I am, can provide a link.

And I think we may be playing each other this season so this won't be your last visit. ;D
