In one of our season previews we stated that we were looking for the new “King Of New York”. Apparently Donovan Mitchell from The City is stepping up from the crown. During Gauchos Roundball Coach Arjay Perovic witnessed his unique skills first hand, “In the semifinal against the Gauchos 15U he had 20+ points, multiple assists and steals and rebounds. He was the best player on the floor and put on a show. He was in what we like to the refer to as the “Spida zone” where he makes the opposition feel as though his team is playing with six players on offense and defense” said Perovic.
Two years ago I predicted Mitchell would be the next special player coming from the Big Apple and Coach Perovic explains why. “Offensively, his first step is lethal; he elevates over defenders on his shot and makes athletic finishes in traffic. He is also one of the most exciting players to watch in the open floor. When you combine his speed and ball handling/ passing ability on the open court he becomes a nightmare for other opponents. Defensively, his length helps him crowd opponents and in any defensive pressure package he causes havoc. The best part of his game might be his passing ability, he sees things before they happen and with his arm strength can deliver the ball anywhere on the floor” Perovic finished.
Next year Donovan should make some high school coach in the Empire State very happy and Coach Perovic seems confident about his future. He stated “The sky’s the limit for Donovan. Currently standing at 6’1 with a size 16 shoe makes his potential sky high. He has a great work ethic and continues to improve every time I see him. It’s still too early to tell but he constantly shows flashes of brilliance on the basketball court”.
All these offers tell me, is that we have a very hard working staff. From a mutual friend, I've been told that TC is a workaholic and expects his staff to work just as hard. I would like to have a dollar for every kid we offer.
Michael Monroe @hoops_Reports Mohamed Touray, 2015 G of NY Lightning lists Notre Dame, Xaiver, Iona, Providence, VCU, Depaul, Hofstra, Fordham, Manhattan, Dayton, BU.
From D1nation: Touray attends Wings Academy (NY) and plays AAU basketball for the NY Lightning. He’s well put together at 6’2 and weighs 170 pounds. The lanky combo guard uses his length to finish around opposing defenders. In transition, Touray is a strong finisher with both hands and likes to drive baseline in a half court set, where he uses a floater effectively. He shoots the ball well, especially from three-point range, but will need to work on having a quicker release. Since he’s only a freshman, he’s definitely undersized for a college athlete, but if he can add some weight and strength he could be effective at the next level. His rebounding isn’t terrible, but he has a lot of room for improvement. Boarding could be the skill that sets him apart from other guards in his class. Touray has a big upside and a lot of potential; definitely a kid worth giving some looks.

Here is a review of his performance at the Iona Elite Camp:
"Ray’s offensive prowess was on full-display on Saturday. A 6-1 guard, Ray proved capable of scoring in various fashions. With the ball, the rising junior displayed a sharp handle, bypassing opponents en route to the rim. The rising junior finished in the lane with relative ease while exhibiting a solid shot from beyond the arc. All-in-all, Ray turned in an impressive showing, establishing himself as a prospect to keep an eye on in the New York City-area."

State, South Carolina, SJU, Rutgers and Villanova . He is ranked the number 1 prospect in NYC by Hoopscoop but I think that is based on potential as opposed to where he is now.
