I am not an attorney, but I would think that Seton Hall is on very shaky ground in with-holding Glover's transcript. To me, it smacks of with-holding someone's paycheck because they owe you money. In most states, you have to pay the wages and seek recourse elsewhere. I would be interested in hearing from Z or someone with a legal background. Don't worry about it. Iona has pretty much told Mike that they will accept his SHU record direct from him and he won't need to get the certified transcript from SHU. There is nothing illegal about a school withholding certified transcripts if a student has not met certain obligations - typically having a balance due. However, the school does have to hand over unofficial transcripts - in essence, a report card - which Iona has told Mike they will accept. Certainly not typical for a college to do this, but when you have a chance to get a kid like Glover, you have to have some wiggle room.

The only thing that's true is the part about being able withhold transcripts for balances and having access to your unofficial transcript. Everything else is certainly not true.

Either way, I'm not worried. Mike will be taking classes in the fall and will be on the team in 10-11.
