I thought Monmouth's Arena looked great on the computer feed. Too bad there was such a small turnout. It seems that other than Siena, the MAAC is plagued with playing largely in front of small audiences. What are the plans for the MAAC Tourney after Springfield? I would love to see a rotation each year.......from Monmouth to Albany to Quinnipiac, to Bridgeport......or if they want a neutral court, have it at Mohegan Sun. I would like to think that someday in the not too distant future that Iona could have something in the order of Quinnipiac, Monmouth or Hofstra....and what Stony Brook is building right now. I would love to experience the energy of a sellout at Iona with close to 4000 fans for an important late season MAAC game or an early season rivalry game.....perhaps playing St Johns at home every other year. I wonder if the MAAC would look to add a 12th team at some point.....personally.....some team on Long Island or in Brooklyn or Queens would truly round out the local geography of the conference. If the MAAC had 12 teams, perhaps you could minimize the home court advantage of the above scenario and use two of these sites with 6 teams in each bracket in a given year. For example Siena would only play the tourney in Albany if they won the regular season title. In a season like this, where they finish in the middle of the pack, they get placed in the other bracket for the first round game. I think that scenario would be the fairest, but the best attendance would probably come from Mohegan Sun. I think Mohegan would double or triple the gate as compared to Springfield due to the walk up crowd.

I for one am against a 12 team MAAC. that would mean 22 league games and only 7 OOC. Would be a possible RPI killer. Prefer more OOC games like TC schedules now. Solid mid-majors, A-10 and hopefully mix in a BCS school

The facts are the facts, the best place for the Maac Tourney is the TUC as long as Siena is in the Maac. History has shown they support the tournament better than anywhere else.

Heres's your answer - www.saratogian.com/general-news/20130529/maac-basketball-tournament-to-return-to-albany-in-2015 - My preference would be that it stays there. For those that think the home court advantage is too great for Siena, I can think of 1 time that they may have won the tournament becuase of it. No other place comes close to it as far as attendance, and now with Loyola gone an Quinni and Monmouth much closer, the attendance should increase. Best atmosphere also. I liked Buffalo also, but it's too hard to get to for most. As far as Mohegan Sun goes, Do you really think you will get walk -up for a minor college basketball tournament? I doubt it. Might get a few extra degenerate gamblers in the house, but otherwise we would get similar numbers to Springfield.

meadowlands arena for the tourney- 9 teams an hr away, close off the top if needed sharkey, if we go to 12 teams you can have 2 div's of 6 play them 2x and the other div 1 time- more OOC games the arena last night was nice, a lot of wasted space it was a huge building with a basketball court in the middle, no seats in the corners, concessions and bathrooms above and behind the seats, hallways for the school that had nothing to do with the arena behind that. But again way nicer than us, but when 1/3 full no noise what so ever

2 years ago I went to the CT state HS Championship game at Mohegan Sun to see my friend's son play. There had to be 7500 to 8000 people at the game...........largely walk up crowd in my opinion. That is why I hold the opinion that Mohegan would be great for the gate. The qualifying game at Fairfield, the week earlier had about 2000 at my friend's Son's home court. (Fairfield Prep)

I like the idea of playing half the schools twice and the rest once for more OOC games too. With a 12th team.......that is 16 league games compared to the current 20. I would love the additional 4 OOC games to be against RPIs better than 100. Then if you have a team like the best we have seen in the MAAC (eg...La Salle's best year), they could be considered as a better than 40 RPI in a dream season.

Good point! None of the MAAC teams, beside Siena, would like that.

I know I would go to he MAAC tourney if it were played at the Prudential Center. But the lease might be too steep.

I am looking forward to seeing the Marist Facility on Sunday. I would imagine that Iona's next home court would be roughly comparable.
