The Niagara site is reporting the Jan game between Niagara and Iona will now be part of a MSG doubleheader with St Johns playing Duke in the other game. www.niagarasports.net

I heard the rumor, but also heard that it was dependent upon the location of the tickets that Iona would get from St. John's. If they were all 'upstairs', we wouldn't do the deal. But that is also a rumor.

Not a very appealing game in terms of drawing a crowd at MSG.

Not a very appealing game in terms of drawing a crowd at MSG. ridiculous game..Niagara couldn't draw flies at msg....why not play manhattan ..and make the game before sju game...and pack the place...(by the games end the garden would be jammed) instead its a cavern against Niagara..after all sju-duke fans go home

Manhattan games are both on Fridays. Not realistic for MSG given SJU and others' schedules. Also, not crazy about the idea of giving up true homecourt advantage in one of our games against the Jaspers.
Not many other options outside of Niagara. Agreed that Niagara is not ideal, but we are handcuffed and by process of elimination had no other choice.
Ideal scenario would have been to convince Quinny to give up their home game on Sun 2/15 and make that an MSG game against us. They have the cash, the alumni geography and the desire to break into NYC market to justify this. We would've kept a home game this way, too.

its a dud......why not a real true game at the garden --say a mini tournament...Iona vs seton hall and st johns versus manhattan --winners play next day (losers play consolation)..lets get something interesting going on for Iona at the garden...

Well, at least there's no football that day. But the Cavs are playing the Thunder, which is where I'll be.

What time would our game be? Before or after SJU /Duke? SJU/Duke is a 2pm start. guaranteed to be a CBS tv game, so I would think Iona/Niagara will be after, unless they start at 11am. The feature game has to be ready for tip off at 2pm
