[No mention of Manhattan there. Ouch.[/quote]GUY Rose Hill gym home Fordham basketball was opened the end of Jan. 1925...I was born about a month later...So we are both 90 years old...When I ponder the years and changes gone by during that time it was probably the greatest period of change ever... From the automobile to the airplane, from radio to T.V. and world wide internet from a trip to the moon and beyond....Through a World War, medical cures not imagined and through it all stood Rose Hill with only minor changes and a paint job or two...... I have attended dozens and dozens of games there and have yet to understand from one word from the antiqued loudspeaker system.... It is evident that leaders have made the decision to downside its Basketball program and make a attempt to regain some of it long lost football luster... The Oldtimer will be a memory, but Rose Hill will probably be hosting then a Fordham-Merchant Marine Academy game....

Yahoo on A-10 OOC schedules: Easiest non-league schedule: FordhamOvermatched in every conceivable way in the Atlantic 10, Fordham has compiled an astonishingly bad 14-100 record in league play the past seven seasons. Therefore it's hard to blame new coach Jeff Neubauer for trying to build some early confidence in his team by assembling a non-conference schedule loaded with home games against low-major opponents. All but two of the 11 non-league games Fordham plays this season will be at home and all but one will be in New York City. The only two name-brand opponents are St. John's and Boston College, both of whom are headed for rebuilding seasons next year. The rest of the opposition is mostly teams likely to finish sub-250 in the RPI — Coppin State, Maine, Fairleigh Dickinson, Colgate and the like. Fordham better pick up some wins against those teams because if history is any guide, the Rams will find victories scarce once conference play begins. Painfully accurate write up. Good thing the author didn't go back further than the last 7 seasons -- Fordham was just as inept in A10 play in those years as well. Is there a ranking of worst D1 programs in the 21st century? Fordham has to be in contention for that "honor". Give their new coach credit though, for recognizing reality and scheduling an OOC that is commensurate with the program's level. Operation Training Wheels is the new slogan for the Rams. Yet we had one or two posters asking why Iona didn't schedule Fordham any more. The answer is pretty obvious.

Couple of points about NYC Area BB:
1. Reading Zagsblog, it is pretty evident that Chris Mullin will be successful recruiting at St. John's. This year will/probably be a bad year, but that should change with the infusion of talent over the next few years. The question is can Chris coach, and will he be in it for the long haul? The answer, imo, is that SJU should return to their former status in NYC. As a mid-major Iona might be the best team in the area, but won't be recognized as such, except for those who "know" college hoops. As long as TCJG stay. the Gaels will be fine. 2. Fordham will improve under Neubauer, and should be added to the Iona schedule. The holdup seems to be that both schools want the first game on their court. My suggestion is a four year contract, with the following breakdown: H, A, A, H, and I wouldn't care who has the first game. Our program is strong enough to shrug off a loss to the Rams. 3. Don't overlook SH. They are also doing a VG recruiting job, and should move up in the BE. 4. Steve Masiello will leave Manhattan, in the next few years. He's a good young coach, and sees himself as belonging in a bigger league than the MAAC. Just a feeling.

Unless we were to continually make the sweet sixteen/elite eight over the next five years, St. John's will always be NYC's team. They are in a dogfight with Syracuse for that title. I personally don't need that title. All I want is for us to be good and have some post-season success. For me its not about which local team we are superior to. SJ's wants to keep that mantle. Fordham fans desperately want to be superior to other local teams. For me all I care about is that we're good and have some success.

I see that Seton Hall landed Myles Powell, as KW continues to turn around his program. And like SJU, the Hall is in the running for other top recruits. While I never cared for KW's style of play, I liked him and Shaheen personally, and wish them well. Also, Iona alum, Pat Lyons. It hasn't been easy. Also, on the Fordham site there is a Link to ESPN, which lists the 10 Rule changes for the Men's game. I like the 30 second clock, and it should really help Iona, as the media guys always said that we played good defense for 30 seconds, and it was the last five seconds that killed us. Now we'll see if that was true. Also like that teams can dunk in warmups, adding to the entertainment.

Stephen F Austins schedule is awful, would love to know if we reached out to them to play. Also they are in the Nashville tournament we were rumored to be in

Normally I'm very positive, but to be honest, I am tired of reading these "Bracket Buster" "Team to Watch" etc. articles without ever actually busting anyone's bracket. Let's do it this year!

Listing us as a potential bracket buster and not even mentioning Isiah Williams really shows you this guy knows nothing about us, more credence to one of us saying this.

I was thinking the same thing, we get picked by someone every year and it gets the hopes up and then BOOM, March comes
