I knew CNR was having problems in the past, but it appears things have gotten worse. Frankly, there but for the Grace of God .... www.cnr.edu/faq

I wish the school only the best. Reasons why: 1. One of my sisters is a CNR grad. 2. A family friend was the school president back in the sixties. 3. Dated a CNR girl while I was at Iona.

I knew CNR was having problems in the past, but it appears things have gotten worse. Frankly, there but for the Grace of God .... Tootie.....Worked Security there after retirement...Was amazed at the attitude and quality of the students and the drop in education offered from when I was a youngster growing up in immediate area...The drop in the once proud college was astounding...Quit after a few short months as knowing immediately it was not the place for me.... Just another sign of the fast falling ''Get what you can'' society and the accepted fast falling moral standards..... Unless there is a immediate change from out present course, THE END IS NEAR....... Yeah I know, there goes the Oldtimer trying to scare the hell out of everybody again..... Heard a high ranking retired military who was asked 'How would our Military perform if we were attacked... His answer...The present military would perform at very high standards, but once we forced into reaching down to drafting we would be facing very, very serious trouble.... Exactly my thoughts and concerns....

As a kid, used to ride my bike to CNR to get piano lessons from Mother Clotilde. She did her best :-]
Later went to some of their dances. Good memories, always thought of CNR as a classy place.

When I was in school CNR was an acronym for College of No Romance.

Cjb, as it was when I was at Iona. And I have the memories to prove it.

When I was in school CNR was an acronym for College of No Romance. Well, in all honesty, that was pretty much every college for me!

Very sad, but not entirely unexpected (the potential closure at least). I too had many CNR connections.
CNR has been struggling for many years to attract students to its main campus, and has tried to depend on extension students from its School of New Resources for revenue to keep afloat. Obviously, that hasn't worked. The reported operating deficits are very serious, and this news strongly suggests that the full magnitude of the deficits were not reported. Yet.
CNR will look for a merger partner or simply to be taken over. I hope Iona steers well clear of this. We can't help CNR, and running two campuses in the same city would ruin Iona's finances.
Iona has excellent leadership in Joe Nyre. We should be very thankful for that.

Ms. Huntington, named President of The College of New Rochelle in 2011, has more than 25 years of experience in the financial arena. A certified public accountant, she joined The College of New Rochelle as Vice President for Financial Affairs in 2001, taking full responsibility for all fiscal issues involving the College.

Sounds like Huntington is employing the "3D Defense" - duck, dodge, deflect.
