Again, I’m an avid reader and rare poster - but am now wading in to correct some absurdities. Any post suggesting Iona would waive a buyout for game guarantees is wildly inaccurate. Let’s remember, if the Iona admin and board were not in lockstep and steadfast, Cluess would currently be coaching at Hofstra or have been named at St. John’s last week. I’m confident that Iona will have a great coach this week, next week and next month. The coach’s name may well be Cluess. But if not, they will hold strong on the buyout and have a great coach by another name in place. Let’s all agree, Iona is not St. John’s. For maximum fun, here is what I would love to see happen. St John’s gets rejected by a few more candidates, and then comes back to Cluess. Cluess either turns them down flat (wouldn’t that be sweet), or responds with something completely outrageous like $4MM per year for 7 years, something those clowns couldn’t stomach.

I agree, St. John’s would not want to play Iona. Iona is a powerhouse, particularly if they keep their current players. Likely a MAAC preseason #1 and St. John’s is likely to lose many players and many games in the Big East next year. Tables are turning. Remember, St. John’s lost to St. Thomas Aquinas in Mullin’s first year. All that being said, Iona’s AD seems to be handling this situation very well. I hear Matt G is in constant contact with key board members and President Nyre. Go Gaels!

Be fair to Iona81. He didn't say TC wasn't interested. He only said: "We have our coach."

Iona waiving or lowering the buyout would be like this...

Here’s what I would have liked to see happen. Once Tim realized he was like the 5th option and something wasn’t working with SJ’s for him to take himself out of consideration, which could have been a strong statement for Iona. But that ship has sailed. Also his son not pining for the job on twitter would be nice. I realize he’s just a kid and loves his Dad, but Iona doesn’t need that.

From a place that doesn't give scholarships to the Big East! Bill Carmody went from Princeton to Northwestern and now has moved to Holy Cross after not being able to bring Northwestern into a top Big Ten program. Also, Steve Donahue went from Cornell to Boston College and moved back to Penn after his unsuccessful stint at BC.

he is lying also, tim didn't tweet only his son, lol In last 24 hours he has retweeted several pro Cluess to St. johns tweets, and prior to that he was inactive for a year. What's the over/under on how many hours until his account is shutdown and/or that one tweet is deleted? Just checked looks like Kevin Cluess tweet was deleted, pretty funny! Don’t think you can delete retweets so those are still there. I now put the over/under at 12 hours for his Twitter account to be deleted. Final results You can delete retweets because all the pro Cluess St. John’s retweets by Kevin Cluess are gone, and now 2 tweets about tc staying at Iona are left there. And for those who haven’t noticed Tim Cluess’s Twitter is now active for the first time ever as he tweeted his statement there. I would tend to doubt you will see much Twitter activity by him going forward.

UMBC AD just tweeted that he spoke to HC Ryan Odom, and Odom is not interested in the SJU position, to stop all the rumors. This is only hours after it started hitting social media. Sorry, but if I81 is correct Iona should have also tweeted out a similar post. Or maybe his son lol

Tim Cluess is the coach of Iona College, stop looking into every rumor and Comment, you should know better!! Tim Cluess is the coach of Iona College, and believe it or not this circus of St Johns will NOT hurt recruiting, actually all the publicity and accolades TC has received will help a lot. This is not my loyalty to TC as much as it is the truth.
