KJ Adams - 6'6" F from Austin, TX. 4★ Recruit, ranked 26th in his class. Was an All-State 6A selection (Texas). Averaged 22.6 points on 61.3% shooting from the field along with 6.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game. He is reported to be extremely coachable, unselfish, and a very hard worker. As a youngster, he was diagnosed with dyslexia and has worked very hard in the classroom to succeed academically. His mother, Yvonne Adams, played at Texas A&M.
He averaged 25 points a game in the Peach Jam for Team Griffin. Was a PrepHoops 16U First-Team All-American Team selection.

Some misinformation in here as I don't think Cluess and staff inherently looked for guys who couldn't (or wouldn't) defend. Rather, I think it's part of the Cluess defensive system to protect the stars from picking up fouls. Yeah, in cases like JW when the aggression is just too high (or the judgment too poor), you'll have guys in regular foul trouble anyway. But, especially with the bigs, there's not a doubt in my mind that the defensive approach was to not play intense post D as a means of keeping key guys on the floor longer AND keeping their energy levels higher as well.
