Pitino has made it clear that he's not thrilled with the facilities, so yeah I agree he's hesitant on bringing these HM recruits on campus. When I say I hope not, it's because I just don't think Iona will be able to steal one of these HM recruits, especially when they visit the other programs. Pitino's name will get Iona on final cut lists, but getting them to commit is whole other game. In my opinion have to get these kids on campus, let them watch a couple practices and player development drills and sell the program, playing in the Garden/Barclay's and being part of something special leading MM Iona to a March Madness run
Hope Pitino and staff prove me wrong
I heard that additional improvements to the “behind the scenes” facilities that are used by the team are planned. Do you have any insights on that?
All I have seen is the same as everyone else. pics on twitter during the summer of an upgraded weight room, new lockers being delivered and a nutrition room, where all student-athletes can go during the day for healthy snacks and drinks. Funny, reminds me of a podcast that Cluess did last year with Iona's rugby coach. Cluess mentioned the lack of snacks for the players and little extras like that due to the lack of resources. Things appear much better now since Pitino arrived, likely because of all the money he has raised. Insiders probably know more about upgrades and resources than I do
Besides playing for HOF coach RP, our best shot at getting the higher level players is promoting schedule, games at Garden, Barclay, etc, tournaments against good name competition and post season reputation…
sharkey, for the rest of us, you, Guy, and Super are Insiders. I will pass along something that was presented about six years (??) ago at the HOF dinner at Wykagyl. It was in conjunction with the major gift made by Ed Arrrigoni. From memory it included the following: *Lobby was built out to the road, with a second floor added, snack bars and ticket booths on the first floor. *Elevator would be added and connect to the second floor. *The east side of the building would be blown out and two major rooms for viewing the games would be built on the second floor, similar to the luxury suites at MSG. One for the president and one for the GC. *Under (first floor) the luxury suites, new locker rooms for the Men's and Women's teams. *Etchings and floor plans were on display.

Agreed. Iona has a lot to offer a recruit getting HM offers.
Let me add, like Pitino said with Mashburn, it only takes one. Others will follow

While I agree with many of the comments, let's calm down just a bit. Pitino has been here a little over a year. In the middle of a pandemic. I would say his recruiting has been great so far. Allot of players that are suited to his style of play. We are fine. Having said that, I also agree it just takes one. I continue to have faith we will land that one. This dude knows what he's doing.

The 3 remaining recruits that have Iona on their final cut list. Have had 2 recent reports Iona is also heavily involved with Denim Dawson and Korey Richardson.
Glenn has a final five of Michigan, Iona, USF, Georgia and Virginia Tech, and he plans on visiting all of them before deciding. While some have questioned whether he’s a ‘take’ in the 2022 class, the Wolverines’ coaches proved they were serious about him in bringing him up for an official visit Sept. 18 weekend.
Glenn isn’t a shooter — far from it — and that’s led many to question whether U-M can afford to bring in another player who needs to work on that aspect of his game. But he can pass it, is good with the ball for his size and has some skills.
“I would describe my game as a hard-nosed player. I am versatile,” he said. “I can get to the basket when I want. In the paint, I can score multiple ways. My shot is getting better, and I am one of the best passers in the country.”
He also likes to buckle down on the other end of the floor.
“I play defense well, and I bring energy and excitement to the floor,” he said. “People say I play like [NBA talents] Draymond Green, PJ Washington and others.”
Glenn will likely put pen to paper in the early signing period. We wouldn’t bet against him ending up at Michigan given what he said about his visit.
“It was a great weekend,” Glenn said. “All the fans were awesome. The campus was great.
“It was amazing — people welcoming me and telling me to come there; the coaching staff was really great. Everything ‘wowed’ me.”
Asked if he talked to the coaches about committing, he responded only with, “no comment.”"

Nice find. If Michigan doesn't take him this is the kind of kid i really believe Iona can steal. The fact that he needs development in his shot is a plus.
While he hasn't announced a final list yet i think Korey Richardson is another HM recruit Iona can steal. Time will tell

Rivals/247 crystal ball has Glenn going to Michigan. Hopefully it’s inaccurate. After this season, I believe recruiting will get a lot easier for Pitino. Need Guy to donate a million for the much needed practice court.
