Awful. Huge hire coming up for the college on the whole.

Surprised not more chatter on this. Any thoughts on a replacement? Should we be looking for a Nyre clone, or someone with some sort of prior history with Iona?

Guy, I haven't heard much about the hiring process. I think it comes down to the company hired to do the 'search'. If it's the same as the one hired when Dr. Nyre became president, then a clone seems likely. If a different company is leading the search, then all bets are off. My guess, and it's strictly a guess is that it won't be a metro NY person.

I don't remember the name of the Advisory company that Iona used when we hired Dr. Nyre. But the current company, Storbeck Pimentel, was the company that Seton Hall used in hiring Dy. Nyre.

The belief on campus is that this search will be easier and smoother than the search to replace Br. Liguori. Part of it has to do with the problems the College faced and would soon face in terms of Sr. Susie and the Provost. Part of also has to do with the fact that Iona has already gone beyond the Christian Brothers for a President so the precedent isn't the same.
The hiring of a woman, or a minority candidate (i.e. non-white) would not surprise me at all given how Iona is emphasizing diversity among the faculty, staff and student population.
All I ask is for someone who is energetic, able to negotiate the politics of being President of a college in New Rochelle, be a rainmaker in terms of donations (we need to get away from being so tuition-driven), be proactive in retaining faculty, staff and (especially) students) and someone who will be as big a supporter of the Athletics Department as Dr. Nyre was. No too much to ask for, eh?!?
