Anybody hearing anything about Sidney Wilson leaving UCONN? He got suspended in Feb and some people thought he would be leaving.
He was a consensus Top 75 recruit (4-Star)who played for Brewster Academy and St, Rays. As a junior, was a First Team All-CHSAA pick after averaging 17 ppg and as a sophomore, was a Second Team All-CHSAA selection after averaging 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds. Played AAU ball for New Heights and is a very good friend of IW.

I was channel surfing last night and came across a HS Slam Dunk contest, in Atlanta, from a few years back. Zion Williamson was in it as a HS senior, to give you a year perspective. What caught my attention was a kid named Javedion (not really sure of his first name) Quinnerly from NYC. The tv announcer said that he was one of the founders of the Jelly Fam movement. When asked what Jelly Fam was, the tv guy said it had to do with the finger roll layup. But, I didn't hear any mention of IW, while I was listening, which wasn't for very long.

Jahvon Quinerly went to Hudson Catholic and committed to Arizona but was then caught up in the Sean Miller pay-for-play accusations. Went to Nova and then transferred to Alabama. The original Jelly Fam guys were IW, Sid Wilson, Quinerly and Jordan Walker from Tulane.

Wilson would be a good get tremendous athleticism. Seems like his career parallels IW’s.... high major tons of potential and very little playing time. Have to wonder why this kid was getting so little PT. It’s not like UCONN was a powerhouse the last two years.

Would Wilson have to sit a year if so IW would be gone.

Would Wilson have to sit a year if so IW would be gone. That is a good question. He has had a crazy ride so far. He reclassified from the class of 2018 to the class of 2017, had a frenzy of recruiting activity in the spring (2017) and picked SJU. He enrolled in SJU for the Summer session (1 class) but left SJU when the Fall semester started. He left due to family issues as his Mom had passed away in March of 2015 and he originally thought coming home from Brewster Academy to SJU would be best for him and his family. His father reported that the stresses of being home and constantly reminded of his Mom's death were causing Sidney a huge amount of distress. He transferred to UCONN and filed for a waiver (since he was technically a transfer) to play right away, yet SJU did not support the waiver, even though Mullin and SJU made it appear that they were supportive in the press. "We know this was not an easy decision for Sid, so we are supportive of him as he strives to find the right fit, He is a good person and talented player who we wish the best as he begins his new journey.” - Chris Mullin's statement on Wilson's transfer. Mullin and SJU balked at putting his support in writing to the NCAA. Braxton Beverly had transferred, in a similar fashion, from Ohio State to NC State and was granted a waiver after Ohio State gave their support to his transfer. Basically, SJU was pissed they lost their best recruit in that recruiting cycle. So Wilson had to sit a year but has three years of college under his belt with two years of eligibility remaining. The question is "how close to earning a degree from UCON is Sid?... Can he fill in the remaining classes this summer to qualify as a graduate transfer." or would his next college be able to file a waiver challenging the past decision, and if they win that battle Wilson would have the ability to qualify as a first time transfer that would be eligible to play right away if the new transfer rule in approved. Lots of if's.
