sharkey, a few comments on your latest post... One, I honestly believe we will have a few new players next season. As you’ve stated, “Staff appears to be involved with a lot of interesting recruits”. We always have attrition going from one year to the next; there will be more than one scholarship to fill. Two, having watched Gist handle the offense, breaking the press, showing evidence of leadership, taking the ball to the hoop, outside shooting results and knowing coach likes the 3PT game from all five positions, I do not feel the most pressing need is for a PG. Three, also believe we will land a couple of 6’6”-6’8” types who can shoot the 3, defend and rebound... Agree and disagree with the above. First, I don't think we will have "a few new players" as that suggests heavy turnover is coming--I don't think the turnover will be all that heavy. Just a hunch on my part. Second, I agree that, if we got no one else, Gist can man the point. He's not traditional and I don't think would suddenly rack up a ton of assists, but he without question got better as the season went on. His improvement was as much a reason for our turnaround as anything. All of that said, I know he's going to log heavy minutes next year, probably 35+ per game, but you have to have another player who can handle the point. What if Gist (knock on wood) gets hurt? I don't know if McNeil is that guy. Perez can do some spot duty but not long-term. So, I do think we need one more ballhandler--a pure PG type like Ibn from a couple years ago, or a non-flashy grad transfer combo guard like Cassell who can run the show if needed. Just more options, even if Gist is the man for the vast majority of the time. Agree with everything, that is y u r our fearless leader

Not sure I understand the allure with Tom Capuano (the guard from Manhattan). I don't believe he ever had a game of significance against Iona.

Has already attended two schools, played almost 1/2 a game and scored just 4 points with 2.3 assists??? That he was highly recruited out of HS looks like he may not be willing to work hard or fit with college systems... Again, if I’m missing something please explain.

Per Goodman.
Northeastern’s Donnell Gresham is transferring, source told @stadium. Will be a grad transfer - Started 33 games, averaged 9.7 points per game this past season for NCAA tourney team.

He didn't really play at UConn, believe he left when coaching change was made before ever stepping on court. So he only played at one school. Big difference in Cooley's system vs Tim's. The kid has talent. And we have brought in other guys who didn't have numbers but had some talent, and did well here.
