Speaking of the MAAC board, Yankee picked Siena to win the league next year, so we are good for 5 straight now.
Now if we can get Mike Francesa to do that as well, not only will the #IonaDriveForFive be accomplished, but we will be heading to the Final Four in 2020!
I want to also offer my thanks to our Capo di Tutti Capi for all the work and patience he puts in.
I don't think I ever told the story of the time, back in the old days when Guy had to approce new members. It ever predates me joining, even though I knew that the Forum existed. One game I was sitting behind the visitor's bench just giving the opposing coach grief (can't remember who it was). Anywho, someone came up to me begging me to let him join. For some reason, he thought I was our esteemed GuyF - and if I were Guy I would hunt that person down and sue him for that miscarriage of justice It took me a few minutes before I finally convinced the dude that I wasn't who he thought I was - and I still think that there was a part him that still thought I was Guy!

Remember well how I found the Iona Board. I was in NR at a Basketball game (think it was Rider - not the 2-28 Rider) when this guy came up to me and my buddy: "You guys are on my seats!" Instead of the old Bronx cheers, we moved one seat to the left. As we engaged the grumpy seat owner, I learned about the Board and left with tow wins - we beat Rider and I got an invitation to join the Board. AS I got to know the "grump", Learned that he has the good judgement and good fortune to marry up to an Irish lass. He is no longer grumpy.
Thanks for the invite Guy, and thanks for the Board. I got to meet several posters at various Iona trips.
A year after that Rider introduction, I got to meet Guy in Charlotte along with EP. Have any of you sat next to EP at a game as he masters the art of coaching the refs through their errors. Believe me, they take EP's coaching to heart. During a time-out in the Sacred Heart game, one of the refs, thinking that penetrating voice belonged to me, came over and offered me a cup of water. As an expression of my gratitude, I offered him my glasses.
It's going to take a long time to get to the next milestone based on the recent inactivity.
To echo Sharkey (I think) from a couple days ago, there's all kinds of recruiting updates being reported lately, yet the only Iona news is a decommit. We know the staff is hard at work, but zero info is making its way here.
Couple that with our usual silence re OOC scheduling, and it makes for a quiet spring for sure.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.
05, just one problem. Last weekend there was an event, that you probably never heard of. It's called the NFL Draft, so my many questions are now football directed. But you can bet, that come September, when we come close to announcing our roster, I'll have a question or two.

Pardon the interruption. but I think you meant November??

Sad that we are now reduced to counting posts - few of which are basketball related. So, how do we feel about the progress in turning the women's program back to winning ways? Any comments on the announced recruits?

No. I think he's correct. We will come close to announcing our roster in September. We will probably come close again in October, and then we may actually announce the roster a day or two before the season starts.
When does the semester end? That is probably when we will start hearing who may not be coming back and who may be filling the open spots. Usually when its dead like this something happens soon.
Guy congrats on reaching this great milestone. I go back to the days of Warren Issac. I know you are humbled by all of the accolades but they are well deserved. Not many people would be volunteering their time and effort to make this all happen. You are always there and supportive of Gaels basketball. We look forward to many more years of bantering.
