My apologies on the note about McNeil. I follow him on instagram and he said he was good to go so I reported that Information. Next time around, I'll be a little more conservative with my posts regarding that stuff.
Another key point that needs to be addressed is the lack of free throw attempts. In the game we went 16-18 at the line which is great, but if you look at who went to the line it consisted of 3 players (Crawford, Van Eyck, and Agee). They got to the line by being aggressive towards the hoop.
Going forward, IMO, I would like to see IW be more assertive in the paint when we're not hitting 3's. He needs to draw some fouls like crawford does. One of the great things about crawford around the hoop is how he plays to contact and IW needs to do that as well. Attacking the hoop and kicking is great, but at times we need to go straight into the big men and hope for a foul instead of rerunning the offense. This enables our guys to catch their breathe and get points at the line in turn which allows us to setup our full court press.
At this point of the season and lineup wise, I think we should start Thiam and Agee together with Van Eyck coming in off the bench for energy. Van Eyck is a high energy and heart type of player. With him coming off the bench with a little bit of boost, it could help the team get going when we're struggling. Last game, he helped the team find a rhythm with his crowd pumping up and his interactions with the team. He was playing full-speed for the full length of the court which is something that drives others to do the same. Thiam and Agee should provide enough scoring and defensive presence to get through the first 6-8 minutes, and Van Eyck could fill that void for us when it comes to Agee/Thiam coming out of the game for a breather. I liked watching Thiam and Agee play together as both are athletic forwards who could spread the floor for each other. Thiam showed last game a good touch outside and posting Agee down low for 1-on-1's should get him going. If he gets doubled, Thiam should be open for a shot or a backdoor dump pass layup.
Lastly, My starting lineup initially consisted of IW, Gist, Crawford, Thiam, and Agee. I still think that it is the lineup the team should be going with. I however think the offensive scheme should be tweaked a little as this team has demonstrated like last year the inability to knock down 3's. We need to take advantage of our main weapon in Agee as he is a force down low. We should be playing through him and Crawford in half court sets. However, when we get the rebound and run fastbreaks, we need the ball in IW, Gist's or Crawford's hands. They can create in the open floor, but in half court sets it seems to me that IW and Gist are lacking some creative to get to the hole as they're relying on the outside jumper a little too much.
Maybe, I'm reading into it a little too much as it's early in the season, but I feel like these are things we can correct sooner rather than later.

Our guards will get to the basket a lot more once our shots start going down. Then you will see IW at his best.

Thanks 88 - Mostly agree with your assessment. I will say, as far as IW goes, his skill at the drive and kick is the best I've seen since Scottie at least. Yes, I agree he needs to learn how to draw fouls, but if we get an outside game going that skill will be a killer. Takes time to get to know your teammates moves. Once he learns I think we are gonna love the kick-outs.

It will come along in my opinion, but right now we need to start hitting shots or get to the foul line.

First 2 games shooting 35% and averaging 12 assists (probably in part b/c we’re shooting 35%). The way we play that ain’t gonna cut it. I see guys competing and trying. As everyone has said not having Cluess hasn’t helped. Hope is is ok from a human not basketball standpoint.

No dig on Asst Coach but the guy aint a Division 1 Head Coach and might never be. He was thrust into this and he will obv do his best but were talking about big ass shoes to fill here with Cluess, who is a HOF coach. No expectations here from me until hes back.

There's a reason why TC was considered for several other jobs. He brings to the table more than just game planning and x's and o's. I hope he gets well and is back in action soon.
