For me, the most telling thing about yesterday's blowout was this: we had one player (EJ) who scored in double figures, while Colorado had 7. With the paucity of games played thus far and the lack of cohesion of our players, I don't think we are well prepared for upcoming conference games. Let's face it, this team has problems putting the ball in the basket. We haven't really had a consistent 3 point shot threat since Armand, English and Casimir. We currently have the lowest 3 point shot percentage in the conference at 26.7%. Our overall field goal percentage of 39.8% is only better than Manhattan and Marist at 37%, and St. Peter's at 38%. One of the things I've tried to highlight in my OOC game thread this year is how many players on the teams score in double figures. A lot of our MAAC opponents have balanced or multiple scoring threats, and if our shooting and scoring figures don't improve, I just don't see a 15-5 conference record as some on this board have predicted. We have a flawed team that has underachieved and even were Coach Cluess to come back soon, I don't see a quick turnaround with improved play happening. I hope I'm wrong but I fear the ledge will be getting crowded pretty soon.

Fair and balanced post. I still think we are just as good as any team in the MAAC. New season starts on Friday!

Don't disagree with most of this. In my very first conversation with TC, shortly after he arrived, he told me that he couldn't believe the poor shooting technique of the returning players. He said that one thing he was confident he could accomplish was to improve shooting. When you watch one of his practices, the one-on-one drills are almost always focused on shooting. Coach Eaton once told me that he had never seen anyone who could diagnose and prescribe for shooting issues like TC.(McGill is a good example of that, going from a very poor shooter to a decent one.) Don't know if TC can remedy problem in a short period.

This is TC’s best attribute. He gets people who can’t shoot to be able to shoot 3’s: Rashad Dwight, Ibn Muhammad, Jordan Washington and David Laury just to name a few. It’s no coincidence this team can’t shoot. By March nearly every player can shoot 3’s and pretty much everyone is peaking as the year ends. Not sure how much time he would need to start working his shooting magic, but anytime at all you would probably see some sort of shooting improvement.

Great points, Super! Even if Tim returns today, we cannot assume everything can and will be fixed quickly.
