Why did Arnold have guys on the block for the free throw by Gist? They were not going to fight for a offensive rebound taking a chance on a foul. The 2 Iona guys just stood there on the miss. Nobody was back to slow down the ball. The SPU kid had a clear path to the hoop.

I believe we were ahead 71-59 and I mentioned in the chat room that it felt like a wire job. Nut cutter central!

I'll blame the euphoria of learning Cluess's illness isn't life threatening for this prediction. (Mark) Murphy's Law = Any shot that goes up against Iona at the buzzer to win will go in. Any shot put up by Iona at the buzzer to win will not go in. Truer words have never been written!!!

Don't know where to start, but I'll try. 1. Banks, SPU's high scorer, who had the winning basket is a frosh, and he's good. 2. Arnold's major mistake (last seven or eight minutes) was trying to milk the clock and waiting until about 10 seconds left before running the offense. Forced shots and wasted possessions. 3. PG is the major problem. Gist is not a PG and by playing him there, he's hurting himself and the team. Got to coach IW up and keep him at the point. Played off the ball a lot, tonight. If IW can't do the PG job, try Cashaw. He can't be any worse, and he might surprise. 4. Some fans wanted EJ, our HS, to get the inbound pass with six seconds left and have him fouled. Instead he was the guy inbounding the ball. Gist got the pass and was fouled immediately. Hadn't been to the line all night. 5. Shaheen is doing a nice job at SPU. 6. Crowd wasn't terrible. About 1500 (my guess). Of course, Iona Prep-Stepinac had 3300 at the WCC, tonight.

I was sick to my stomach watching that performance. Every player standing around, not fighting for rebounds or boxing anyone out in the last 7-8 minutes. The body language could not be worse...to a man. IW doesn't even look like he wants to be on the court. No energy coming out of timeouts whatsoever. As an alum and longtime follower of this program I was very disappointed....and frankly embarrased at the lack of discipline and effort. These young men need to develop some heart, and fast, or they will find themselves in the basement of the league quickly. I agree with a lot of this. Isaiah Washington absolutely looked like he didn’t want to be there. I noticed it from the opening tip when he wasn’t in the starting line up. Towel on his head in the second half when he came out and then he yawned in the final timeout of the game while getting instructions from the coach. This was right before St Peters hit the 3 to go down 1. On that play we had no one on the in bounder. How can a guy be wide open on a play like that? We clearly knew who the shooters were but was just lazy. Maybe they need to hit bottom before they can get better. I think it’s close. Bright spots Ross appears to be capable of making threes. Unlike many players on the team. Thaim looked good on offense and played hard

Forgot to mention that McNeill wasn't on the bench.

"Bad teams, no one leads. Average teams, coaches lead. But elite teams, players lead."
Which one are we?

I remember last year he was pissed after the game at Iona when Agee did that showboat dunk at the end of the game. Crawford and Agee with another combined 9 turnovers.

We played this game at St. Peter’s pace and Iona is not built to thrive in a half court set game. How many fast break points did we have? The kid #25 who played sparingly is also very good.

Will disagree that this season is a throwaway without TC.
We have more talent (and upperclassmen) than any team in the MAAC. Players need to put their big boy pants on and step up. They should be able to win 12-13 MAAC games based on talent alone.
Time to stop making excuses and to be a part of the solution.

Downward spiral in talent since Grasso left.

Incompetent coaching, especially the second half substitutions. Jelly looks lost out there and we were so tentative after Agee fouled out. Awful. He isn't playing the point, so I understand his confusion. He isn't a shooter so if he is on the court it should be as a pg
