The SJU fans are really going to lose it... LJ Figueroa will transfer. Averaged 14.5 PPG and 4.5 RPG.

Just a side note if any of our board members would like to start the LJ Figueroa to Iona rumor to drive the SJU fans out of their minds. Coach Pitino did offer Figueroa when he was a senior in high school.

I don't see Gist getting a lot of playing time especially at the point because he's really a small 2 and his shot selection consists of ill-advised shots leading to inconsistency with his 3 point shooting. Ross who shoots the ball well and is a bigger body may see more playing time but will not be getting major minutes. I'm confident Petino is going to dance with the people he brought in here and let them develop. Petino knows even with raw inexperienced but talented kids he has recruited have enough talent to compete and win the MAAC. For one of Cluess guys to play they are going to have to be several levels above. Tie goes to the newbies Who's Petino?

Did not know that Nelly Junior Joseph's last name was Junior Joseph. Better change my contest, so I don't miss on that one.

In looking at the roster, I come away with four concerns and one no concern. First the concerns: 1. Will we be hurt by lack of experience at the Point? Not sure, but have my fingers crossed that Chavez and Myers can do the job. 2. With a game on the line, do we have a "go to" guy? Feel better about this one. And while I'm not sure who it will be, I think that there is enough talent that someone will step up. Forced to pick a player, I'll go with Jeanlouis. 3. Do we have enough rebounding? We have five big guys, two of which will probably be on the court at the same time. Can they rebound well enough to answer my question. Junior Joseph and Crawfoord are husky guys, but are only freshmen. Is Brown our best hope? Don't know. 4. Will lack of summer sessions impact RP's efforts to install his offensive and defensive schemes? I don't think so, because of RP's experience. I'm guessing that he has a playbook that he can send to the players, so they'll have a leg up before practice starts. And the one thing that I'm not worried about is team depth. We have 10+ players that should be able to compete from Day One. JMO.
Anyone have the same/different concerns?

I'll be very happy if I'm able to watch a game on TV. Probably be afraid to attend in person, unless I'm able to get a vaccine shot. But Cjb being a young guy, I see your point.

On the front page, Ryan Kelly has an interesting writeup on the Iona recruits. He also has a guess about a couple of starters. However, like all of us, he's just guessing.

I still think Ross starts. Dude shot 40% from 3 on the season and 47% from 3 in the MAAC and is a returning senior and you want to start a frosh over him?

Chavez is not a Frosh and he can play the point as well. Ross is one of my favorite players who can come in and light it up from three however his ball handling skills need to improve. I like the idea of having Gist off the ball and not worrying about distributing.
Plus I don't think with this roster starting is going to mean a great deal. I think Ross will get plenty of playing time.
