“P.S. Give King Rice credit for the way he worked the refs, right till the end of the game.” I rarely leave a game feeling the officials did a BAD job or cost a team a game. However, the two young guys (Cruz & O’Brien) were absolutely horrible today. Coincidentally, they spent half the game standing alongside and talking with Coach Rice. Very unprofessional on their part! The disparity in foul calls was highly unusual - just sayin’... P.S. Had we won, would have made the same criticism! Absolutely right. At one point in the second half one refs was chatting and laughing with three Monmouth players.

Is anybody besides me impressed with how good a ball handler Cashaw is; he also distributes the ball very well. In the last two games where he played more, he impressed me with how under control his game is. Unfortunately, I don’t think he is a scorer... yet!

I've noticed the same thing about Cashaw. Very good ballhandler plus plays under control and looks confident. Don't know about his offensive game because he never attempts to score.

The biggest positives this game IMO was thw play of Gist and Jelly. Both shared the ball and still came up with big numbers. Jelly had double double: 25 points and ten rebounds. Plus he had three assists. He was 5 for 8 from the three.

Which was the worst? 1, Coach possibly infecting the team with the flu. 2. Iona coaches being the only ones in the HAC who did not know that Gist was injured, when they had him attempt a free throw (which he missed) before being helped off the court in obvious pain. Never returned to the game. 3. Iona playing a 1-3-1 zone, opening up the corners for wide open three pointers. P.S. Give King Rice credit for the way he worked the refs, right till the end of the game. If he doesn't take ft he can't come back in

I saw a lot upon which this team can build today. IW played very well. Gist and Ross were knocking down 3s. Agee was making some great passes. Not sure how many assists he had on the day but I think he had 7 in the first half. I thought that everyone who played today had something positive to contribute.
I think if we continue as Iona has in the past; play our best ball going into the MAAC Tourney; and avoid the PIG, we have as good a chance as any team to win the tourney.
Go Gaels!!!

Good effort despite the adversity of losing Crawford at last minute, Arnold early in game and Gist late. Alas it's still an L and this team has had too many at home to expect a February push.

While it’s on my mind, what’s happened with Ben Perez? A reasonable contributor last season and a solid 3-point threat, he is a dismal 7 for 31 (.226j on the season.

Agee's stats (8/7) tell me that he's handling the ball too much. I think the effort is there, but he tries to do too much, and ends up forcing things. I've heard the term vocal leader and that is what he tries to be, always telling/encouraging others, but not getting back on defense, which should be his first priority.
