Solid post game interview with coach Mailhot. Impressed me. Don't want to ruin it but give it a lesson, some interesting tid bits. One thing I will post is that Van Eyck was also injured and the reason he didn't play as much. Great effort without Crawford, Agee foul trouble and losing Van Eyck and Gist to injury. BTW, those on Twitter might want to follow ionagaelsbasketball.. gaelsiona..a new Iona hoops account.

IMO, coach Mailhot was very impressive in the PC. Might have missed it, but I didn't hear a question about Asante's status.

Mailhot was very poised. Good job with the interview.

Mailhot was very poised. Good job with the interview. Turnovers have been a problem all year. Our 3pt shooting vs what we allow at the 3pt line has been huge all year, but not this game vs Monmouth. Monmouth got 24 points from the charity stripe, huge advantage for that particular game.

Another stat that jumps off the page, Under Coach Cluess we were 92-19 at Hynes center. This year we are 2-4 at home.

I thought coach Mailhot did a very good job running the team, especially given the short notice in a big, home game. He was really active throughout the contest directing the team, calling timeouts and even with substitutes while being short handed. The post game interview was also well done...

Despite all the negativity, Iona looked pretty good, at times against Monmouth. We were quicker than usual, and not having Crawford was probably the reason. No doubt that EJ is one of our best players, but the team is better/quicker when he is not in the game. With him we play better when we go four guards, and have to hope we don't get killed on the boards. JMO. so first we were better off without Agee on the court and now EJ, please stay on your meds

What I found great about Maihot's presser was that he held the team accountable for the loss by saying the guys needed to value the ball better and needed to make just a few more plays and didn't let the team take the easy way out and blame the refs.
Also of note is coach talking to Cluess at halftime. While we all know Cluess is in touch with the staff and players, just great he is still that engaged to talk to the staff at the half.

I thought I would share this with everyone. After the game, Coach Rice wouldn't stop calling Rick Fox after hearing the rumor about him dying in the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash. Eventually Rick Fox answered, but it is unique in nature that he would talk about his friendship on air with him. Also, he mentions Iona quickly as the team that Coach Rice played against. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a24HMLb5EMQ
