Once again very disappointed with Tra Arnold. Pull this guy in favor of Mailhot the rest of the way jeez Louise he’s atrocious. Arnold was dealt a shit sandwich. He may not have impressed us but with that said, Coach picked him as ‘the guy”. There must be a reason for that. In Cluess we trust.

I wasn’t able to make the game tonight but thought we were playing Siena. After reading the posts and seeing the score, did we end up playing Baylor or Kansas?

Hah! And the crew blamed the OOC schedule for this. Horribly unexciting basketball and we lost momentum from last game. What changed? We have the best program in the Maac. We should have recruited a nice up and coming LOCAL assistant coach. Had to have been an ex Cluess system player who wanted a role! DISASTER!

The refs have to bring back the "No Flopping" rule.

I know they were probably up late celebrating, but I would have thought that Tony and MTS would have visited this board by now.

Very impressed with Siena. Young, talented and the best team I've seen at HAC so far. Their fans have good reason to be optimistic.
From the opening tap, I expected things to turn ugly.
Keep the faith, both Cluess and this team will surely bounce back, albeit probably not this year.

Cjb, I agree with your take on Siena, but I'm just wondering if they looked so good because we played sooooo bad.

Boy was I wrong about this team! Such a disappointing season. I still contend that the team has the talent — EJ, Gist (pre injury), Agee, Jelly. How many teams in the MAAC can claim to have talent like that!?
This makes the season even more disappointing. Despite all the other obstacles with coach’s illness, scheduling challenges, etc., this team still had the talent to compete IMO. Chemistry issues, consistency and effort have to be called into serious question.
Chalk this up to a forgettable season and just move on please.

The recruiting class has been a total bust. Stop with the recruiting bigs philosophy. What do you mean by “stop recruiting bigs” philosophy? I believe the staff got away a bit from recruiting athletic 6'5''...6'6" kids who can shoot. Those have been the typical type recruits that have thrived under the Cluess system. Last season before guys left Iona had Griffin, Risto, Maxwell, Nikolic, Agee and the kid from SJU? This season..Agee, Risto, Nikolic, Van Eyck and Thiam. This is the MAAC, a guard league. Risto and Thiam are more perimeter type players. I rather have athletic G/F kids that can also defend guards than 6'9" kids roaming the perimeter. I was excited about Thiam at first thinking we were getting a athletic 6'9" guy that could dominate the MAAC down low. Instead he turned out to be just the opposite. Time will tell on the transfer from New Mexico State but the scout on him he's a athletic 6'9" kid with very good post moves and doesn't wander out in the perimeter. Going on all of the recent offers hopefully the staff is going back to recruiting G/F type kids and the 6'8" prep kid they just offered is athletic and strictly a low post shot blocker.

1st time I cancelled my ESPN+ membership early during the season.
This team is horrible in the sense that they just have no heart. Outside of a few players on this team who play with heart - everyone else does not. It is a "me, me, me" type of team. First time in years that we've players that refuse to join the huddle, tell the coach to STFU, and just pout all game long.
It would be a different story if we're losing and the team is playing as hard as possible trying to work the kinks out, but this is not that team. They're so unenjoyable to watch. You've Agee who yells at every other player and never takes accountability for his own mess ups. Sometimes, I want to scream through the screen and tell him to STFU and play ball. He consistently throws these NFL hail mary passes outbounds and then talks to who he's trying to pass to like they messed up. He's consistently out of place on defense and just looks like a shell of himself last year. He really needs to look himself in the mirror.
I've been giving the benefit of the doubt to Arnold the whole season understanding the circumstances that he's been put in, but he really needs to do a better job. We're now 15 games into the season and the same mistakes with rotation and discipline continue to be at the forefront.
Lastly, I think we've hit the point in the season that we need to start playing players who play with heart and want to be on the floor for the other guys on the team. My starting 5 going forward would be IW, Ross, Crawford, Van Eyck, and Thiam. First off the bench would be Cashaw with Nick following. Agee would ride the pine for a while. IMO.

I was. Left at the 8:00 mark in the 2nd half. Terrible effort. Two firsts for me this year: - Turned off a game early because of terrible effort (Marist) - Walked out of a game early because of terrible effort (Siena) Agee was atrocious in both games. Agee has 75 turnovers and 74 field goals in 16 games. I know we don't have a head coach, but someone on the coaching staff should address this. Just to compare, in 2016 Jordan Washington in a full season had 78 turnovers and 233 fg's. At this point, forget the rest of the season focus on improving the guys that will be here next year, Agee Crawford Perez would should see a lot more bench time. He also leads team in assists how many did Washington have

Unfortunately, many of his assists happen (and he is a good passer) with him away from the basket. By forcing things he turns the ball over too much and often finds himself not in a position to rebound. By being on the perimeter he should be able to do a better job of getting back on defense. That often doesn't happen because he spends too much time "coaching" his teammates. I'll say this for him, he does try, imo.
