1970 having fun! But until tonight they pretty much have been a terrible second half team: UConn, Princeton, Colorado, Niagara, St Peters, Canisius, Manhattan. Based on how this season has gone don’t think there were many Iona fans who didn’t think they were going to lose that game once Quinny got it to close early in the second half. Luckily we were wrong, but let’s see them do this a few games in a row. I think we need to get to 7-7 to really have hope, must avoid pig to have a realistic shot.

Other than the exhibition game, only game I’ve been to this year. Team looks great. What’s all the hullabaloo about?

One concern: 0 points from bench. Cashaw/Nic/Perez were 0-1 in 12 combined minutes, although Nic had 5 boards in 7 minutes.

Those wins against Rider, Faifield and Canisius were ugly. This was a clean win. Van Eck really had a difference making game. I don't know if it was us, but Marfo looked uninterested. Maybe it was the competition he was facing. Quinny was ugly from three in the first half, we were way overdue for one of those games. Good to hear Tom Pecora having kind words for coach Cluess. Hope we can build on this, Jelly improving as the season has gone on, I hope Van Eck does also. Very little Perez, no Risto or Thiam.

I have gone on record on the MAAC board as predicting an Iona victory tonight, straight up. Just a feeling, no basis for it. Guy-1 NY POST expert-0

The Maac is so evenly bad, 3 games separate first from last, honestly anyone can win it, but I think it almost definitely will be a non pig team, no Maac team can win 4 in a row! If Cluess every showed up I would like our chances, but I have mostly lost hope on that, it would be a very, very nice surprise though!

Great win, but would like to see some consistency before we get too excited. The guys showed fight and grit, and that’s what matters most.

Outrebounded them 40-32; held them to 32% fg%; 15/7 a/to; Q with 12 tos. Neglected to mention 11-12 fts--although none were under pressure.

1970 having fun! and the team GAVE A BIG F U TO THE BOARD, maybe the board will take credit!!! as Raf would say ONIONS!!!! I'll take some. I urged them to defend and they did. :-D If we defend even close to that level the rest of the way, we'll win a lot more games. Defensive energy fueled the offensive confidence.

As crazy as it sounds, this might actually be the year that a PIG team wins the title or at least makes the final. With the league so evenly matched without a clear front runner, I could easily see a PIG team get on a roll and stir things up.

And it's a direct result of not having an experienced head coach on the sidelines. Cluess can call and text, but it's not the same as adjusting to their adjustments out of the locker room. That said, TODAY we did adjust. Quinny started the second half on a run and our O was a hot mess, but we gathered and ran a couple good offensive sets and went back to frustrating their perimeter shooters. Well done, staff. And well done by the players to execute, particularly on defense.
