Can Ristanovic, Thiam and Perez contribute more? Absolutely. Each has had good games in the past. Iona will need it with the injuries. Again, they've had good games in the past. More consistency will be needed. They can definitely play solid. I feel good about it considering the team has recently pulled together. Go Gaels!!!
1. Thought they did the worst "reffing" job this season. However, in doing so they might have won the game for us by sending Iona to the line for 35 free throw attempts. 2. By my count this is the fourth time we've had Andy O'Brien doing an Iona game, and our first win. Enough.

I agree these guys have to contribute down the stretch and are capable. At some point during the season when Risto wasn’t seeing anytime I have to think he was injured to some extent. He was great yesterday. Scoring but also had some decent defensive stands. I believe Thiam’s poor defensive effort and inability to rebound has limited his minutes significantly. Iona has done a really poor job on the defensive glass giving teams 2nd and 3rd chances. Thiam’s strength is his outside shooting. So unless he gets hot in his limited minutes I don’t see him on the floor unless there is serious foul trouble Perez still struggling to find his form. For his and the teams sake I hope he does figure it out. We know he can be a guy that can make a difference.
Jump ship? Lol. Why is it so hard for you to admit the team came out flat and played terrible. It wasn't a matter of Marist going on a run, but how Iona was playing. Like others posted, Iona reverted back to just standing around on offense without any ball movement playing one-on-one forcing shots. Completely opposite of how they were playing during the 3 previous games. You could actually hear a couple of fans on the live stream screaming at the guys to move the ball. Both teams had runs the 2nd half, fortunately Iona had longer runs and playing the style that has now led to a game winning streak. Can't blame foul trouble on the poor start.
We had a bad 3 minutes, it happens. We were down 12-3 and were down less than 9 with guys sitting also u don't have to be out of the game for foul trouble to affect u, if u get a foul in the first 2 minutes u cant be as aggressive knowing u get 1 more u will sit. 2nd half when everyone played except Van Eyck, we won by 18, not both teams went on runs and we were fortunate our runs were better,+ 18 PT half is pretty good, if it was the first half and then we won by 8 don't think u would be saying the same. 3 bad minutes does not make a half
Iona only played poorly for 3 minutes in the 1st half? Really? Iona shot 29% and 22% with 7 turnovers because the offense was at a standstill. They were completely flat on both ends of the court. The only reason Iona was still within 10 at the half was Marist shooting 3-8 from the line and Cashaw and Risto giving them a small spark off the bench. Blaming the fouls for the poor 1st half is just an excuse. It has been discussed in the past 3 games how Arnold has shown guts going against the norm and playing guys with 2 fouls in the 1st half as well as guys with 3 fouls early in the 2nd half.So no the guys are not playing in fear they will come out and sit the rest of the 1st half if they pick up a 2nd foul. Yesterday Arnold went against what he was doing and sat Van Eyck the last 14 minutes as well as IW the last 9. Probably because Risto and Cashaw were playing well enough and he still had Agee, Ross and Crawford (no EJ was not out there by himself like you posted) on the court. Do you really think this team plays differently worried about the foul situation? Van Eyck picked up his 2nd foul while on the floor reaching after turning the ball over. Crawford and Agee picked up their 3rd and 2nd fouls because they wanted to flex.So by your logic Iona played tentative because guys didn't want to pickup quick 2nd fouls, but not afraid to pick up quick 3rd fouls in the 2nd half? lol. They started the half on a 21-2 run because they woke up and started playing Iona basketball.
Speaking of runs, the 2nd half was all about mini-runs and yes like I posted fortunately Iona had the longest and biggest run, to start the half. It's not like Iona pulled away and maintained a comfortable lead the entire half. Did you forget the game was tied at 62 with 4 minutes left? Iona was up 44-35 with 12 minutes left after the big run. Marist then went on a 11-4 run to cut it to two. Pretty much stayed in that range until it was tied at 62 with 4 minutes left when the Gaels went on a 11-1 run to open up 73-63 lead with 45 seconds remaining. So yes you are wrong again about the 2nd half not being about runs.
Look I am very happy they found a way to get back to Iona basketball and win a must win game, and sorry I have to post about the negative 1st half, but your act of coming on the board hours after the game knocking board members posts and calling them asses is getting old.
The 2nd half was all about runs, even the announcers mentioned it.
One thing I haven’t seen posted yet this year is how quiet, down to earth and likable Isaiah Washington is. He is not what I expected at all, he’s easy to root for and always is giving 100%. He is the reason we won today and one of the main reasons we have made this surge.
This was not the case early in the season. I was at the home game vs St Peters in which we gave up a huge 2nd half lead. Washington was disinterested in the game and visibly upset with his minutes. The end result and his reactions during the game left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. However, he has been the complete opposite in recent game. He has turned into a leader, showing it in many ways. He has taken (and made) many huge shots for us this season. Free throws included. Add that to his demeanor, we would be lost with out him. Credit to him for turning it around. I’m sure the transition back home and frustrating start to the season led him to show his emotions that particular game.
We are lucky to have him for another year. And for this year his play will likely determine how far we can make it.

He is playing his minutes at PG since gist went into doghouse and then got hurt It was definitely the first time he was playing without the ball in his hands so it makes sense why he looked bad and confused for first half of season

so again if it was the first half and we were up 18 at the half, I would have said we were fortunate to have better runs than Marist to be up by 18? We controlled the 2nd half , when the game was tied in the 2nd half that meant we were +10 for the half when we were up 10 we were +20, so to me we controlled the 2nd half

Holy shit are you thick. Obviously if Iona opened the game on a 21-2 run there wouldn't have been any posts about Iona reverting back to the "bad" Iona with EJ and a couple other players forcing shots because there was zero ball movement or passing. Those posts were made real time as members were watching the game. Like I said it's very easy to post and critique other members posts hours AFTER the game. And yet you were still wrong on many points like EJ being the only scorer on the floor, and blaming the foul situation as well as Iona only playing poorly for 3 minutes.
As far as the 2nd half Iona was up 44-35 with 12 minutes remaining. Marist was able to fight back and tie the game at 62 with 4 minutes and actually had a chance to take the lead again with less time remaining. Did Iona "win" the 2nd half? Yes they did but they didn't control it nor the game completely just because they ended up winning by 8. After Iona had the 9 point lead that was anybody's game with a couple minutes. Again great job by the staff and guys doing what they had to do to bounce back from a terrible 1st half.
I agree--we were +18 for the 2nd half. Had we been tied at halftime, the game would have never been in doubt.
Like I said, we lacked energy early and that put us in a hole. We did recover until about the 4 minute mark when we only had 2 starters on the floor and that put us back in the hole because we couldnt score.
