My nephew is back to work today. He told me White Plains Hospital has 67 patients with Coronavirus, of which 19 are in the ICU. This is real and scary. Concerned about Gael Nation, especially our older posters. Java - Stay Safe. I flew back to NY from Del Mar (San Diego) when this whole thing started getting serious to look after my parents. Unfortunately, I've been absent from the board lately as my father has tested positive and my mother is being quarantined as she has symptoms but they're mild. I have to take care of the family and I can tell you first hand, If you get infected depending on your health status, this is no joke. My father is 62, runs 3 miles a day and eats extremely healthy with no underlying health issues and has been in bed for 2 1/2 weeks. His fever has been normal and his cough has been getting better, but still hasn't gone completely away. FYI, my sister works for MSK in Manhattan and she has expressed the same concerns. I eat my words back in the day when I under played this whole thing, but now having first hand knowledge it has changed my views. Everyone on here, be smart and safe. Thanks 88! I was over at Costco yesterday and it felt like the apocalypse. Still amazed at how many people are not adhering to the social distancing request. Way too many people whistling past the graveyard, with a "this won't happen to me" attitude. I think we hit an apex around 5/1. Dr's Fauci and Birx seem to provide the most honest, level headed, data driven information. Be well all!

Unfortunately I can see this happening, but it’s a bit early to make an announcement like this. Let’s see what happens first, hopefully everyone doesn’t become copycats so quickly! I will say if you told me to bet I would say the college basketball year does happen but not until January 2021.

Especially programs with a lot of "older" fans.

Oldtimer, how are you doing during this "lockdown?" I'm assuming your family is making sure you have everything you need. Please post. We miss your insights.

The news from BU makes a lot of sense. The most encouraging news that I've heard was that a "virus shot" might be available in early 2021. And until that happens I don't see people coming together, unfortunately.

Does this make sense:
The Fall semester is conducted from home via conferencing of some sort. The virus antidote becomes available early in 2021, and students return to campus for the Spring semester. The Basketball season begins in January with 10 or 11 OOC games depending upon exempt tournaments. The MAAC sked would be limited to 10 games, where you would play each team once (five home/five away). The MAAC tourney would go on as usual, along with Big Dance and the NIT. In addition to those two tournaments, the NCAA would conduct another tournament for the next 64 teams, along the lines of the Big Dance. These 64 teams would be the next in line of the teams that didn't make either the NCAA or NIT tourneys, and all games would be on the home court of the higher ranked team.
Does this have any merit? And why.

Who knows how all of this plays out. IF hoops doesn't start until January, I would prefer forgetting about OOC. Play the 20 game league schedule.
First let's see what happens, I still have hope the full season, with kids back on campus by September/October is still very possible.

Back to the Coronavirus. My mild symptoms have persisted for three weeks. Yesterday they finally let me test and test came back today negative. Just wanted to notify some of you here because you came into contact with me during the tournament. Feel pretty good today.
