Willard never looked back, I guess is one way to say it. I wonder if Vin Parise and Kev Willard have any connection anymore. Someone here said Lyons still comes back to iona on occasion. PS not related, but I think Parise and Finkelstein do a great job. Pat Lyons comes to the annual Goal Club golf fundraiser.

Come on Super, he almost won a maac tourney game and I believe once in a post Iona interview his mind briefly recalled a time coaching somewhere in Ny, he even almost verbalized it, but I’m afraid it slipped his mind before that happened. You're right Joe. I almost forgot the 43-40 Marist nailbiter in the opening round in 2009, his 3rd try at it. (Is opening round loss redundant?)

Pat Lyons is an alum, a D1 Iona hockey standout in the school HOF.
Willard was a mere short-term employee.

Yes. This makes sense.

The NCAA can talk all they want about the health issues but I don’t see the power conferences giving up on football. It just makes too much money and so many of those schools are in red states where money and eco issues trump health concerns. ( pun fully intended ) I just don’t see them leaving that money on the table and the political pressure on administrators from rabid fans and politicians is going to be intense. The federal government isn’t even paying attention to it’s own guidelines for reopening states. Do you really think the SEC schools are going to say students can’t go back to their campuses when it’s ok now to get a haircut, tattoo or go to the gym.

I can see the SEC raising its middle finger to the NCAA and playing anyway. Compounded by the Presidential election, this fall is shaping up to be a total shit show.

I can see them trying to play without fans in the stands, and still reaping the TV revenue. They are going to have to figure out a way to keep players, coaches, referees, etc. safe. That would necessarily include constant testing, which isn't a reality right now. Imagine the outcry if SEC football players can be tested every two days but regular folks have a hard time getting tested even when symptomatic. My son has committed to McGill University in Montreal. Still not sure they will allow students on campus in the fall. May be virtual learning.

If this starts trending basketball season could be in trouble. End on campus courses Thanksgiving and only online classes rest of 1st semester and 2nd semester. Idea is to avoid flu season and a potential 2nd wave of coronavirus.

So Rothstein says no 2nd semester while others say 1st semester will start August 10th and end Thanksgiving. I have no idea what's going on

Idea is to avoid flu season and a potential 2nd wave of coronavirus. Actually seems like a good sign to me. You can always adjust schedule. If they chose not to bring in students at all it would be hard to allow sports to go on. This is a better alternative.
